"We had a great stay here recently. We stayed in Room 4 which is a tad unusual as it has no window in the main area. There is a window in the bathroom so you can have natural light provided the door is open. Not a problem for us tbh as the room was completely dark overnight. The room is quite basic with a small TV and a double bed (at home we have a king size, so it was smaller than we are used to). It was spotlessly clean. We had a good meal in the bar, a couple of drinks which was competitively priced. Service was excellent and friendly. Pooch was made welcome too. Breakfast was also really good although the sausage was a little bland and at odds with the quality of the bacon and black pudding. Once again our dog was allowed in the restaurant area too. So to conclude: an excellent stopover that is very dog friendly, lovely staff, good food and a reasonably comfy room all for £75. We would stay again when in the area. Thanks "

"Stayed in a family room for 1 night to break up a long journey. Arrived late but we were greeted by the friendly and helpful staff. The room was a bit cramped but was okay for our needs as we were going onward the next day. The beds were comfortable and considering the hotel is conveniently situated next to the A1 the room was quiet. Breakfast was good with a varied choice. There is the facility to book packed lunches but you need to book the night before. Overall a good friendly hotel. We would stay again if ever we’re passing through again. "

"Absolutely brilliant!! The room was lovely, everything in it you could want and more. Very generous with toiletries and refreshments. I had a perfect nights sleep! There is also a lovely garden you can use and enjoy. Staff were very relaxed, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was faultless, generous servings, everything on the menu you could want, hot and beautifully cooked. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with a choice of toast. This was served with both hot and cold beverages. The cafe has a lovely rustic feel, it was very busy, but still relaxed. Location - a great place to stop when travelling to/from Scotland. There is also a very nice pub opposite for evening dinner, which was also great. I would definitely stay here again, Thankyou to the staff, they obviously work super hard. "
