"What a find! It was great. Now don't be deceived by its address. It is not in Ambleside. It's a few miles to the west on the narrow, winding B5343, beyond Skelwith Bridge and the old slate mining village of Chapel Stile. This road comes to a dead end in the Langdales a few miles from the hotel. There's an old 19th century Ordnance Survey map on the wall of the breakfast room which identifies 'Robinson place' which I think was this building, previously a farm. Anyway, it has been sympathetically restored to welcome visitors, both car drivers like us and plenty of hikers and cyclists. My room had large windows on two walls, with beautiful views of mountains, grass and sheep."
