"A lovely, characterful old building on the edge of the Lake District, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, helping us feel right at home. It is very convenient as a base, being on the road between Penrith and Pooley Bridge with a direct bus route between the two, going as far as Windermere, and for drivers it is a good place to access most parts of the Lake District, being not far from the M6 and A66, making access to Carlisle and the Scottish borders equally easy. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a nice en suite bathroom, and being situated in a pub we were never lacking for somewhere nice to eat and drink. The cooked breakfasts in the morning were delicious, some of the best we've ever had at a hotel, and very handy for preparing us for the day's adventures."

"The room was very comfortable and clean. All members of staff very helpful. I really loved the water and milk dispensers to reduce extra waste. Bathroom was ever so slightly worn around the edges, but otherwise perfectly clean. Would definitely stay again."

"Beautiful historic hotel full of character and within 5-8min walk from the train station. Staff is very friendly, welcoming and super helpful. Bedrooms are very comfortable, warm and clean. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. I had a lovely stay and will stay there again if/when I come back to Penrith."
