Owl Cottage is in a nice little spot and while it has everything you need, it definitely needs an upgrade. It is looking tired, stains on carpets, externally the windows are virtually rotting, kitchen cabinets are scruffy and the kickboards are hanging off in places. The paving slabs in the garden are uneven and the utensils look years old (colander gone rusty etc), the kitchen sink looked horrible and stained with no washing up bowl (we actually bought one and left it there). We had problems with the oven, which whilst warned of this in the brochure, really needs sorting. One of the bedrooms had no mirror for drying your hair and the lady in that room had to come and use ours for this. The garage door was very difficult to open and at one point we couldn't get the car out and almost had to ring the rental company for assistance but managed it in the end. There were quite a lot of cobwebs around so the cleanliness was not as expected, especially as you are not able to get in until 4pm due to the time needed to clean it! The en-suite bathroom in the main bedroom looks like something from the 70's - all brown tiles and a dated sink/vanity unit. I just think that for the cost of renting this place it needs to be made a bit more high end in the overall finish. The proximity to Burnham Market is excellent however, and we enjoyed our stay. We wouldn't chose to say again due to the condition of the property.
