"Gorgeous and spacious room. Very inviting onsen area, even in the pouring rain. Nice touch that outfits are provided to walk to the onsen, and it was a long distance from my room. Expensive but delicious meal at the French restaurant. Breakfast was plentiful but they need more than one coffee machine; there was always a line of people waiting. The hotel has beautiful grounds and landscaping, with great views of the lake, which I saw only through windows, sadly, as it never stopped raining during my whole visit. :-("

"This was our second time staying at Gora Hanaougi, and we had an even better time than our first trip. We opted to stay two nights this time so we could go tour Hakone after a restful night’s sleep. As always, the food and experience were phenomenal. Since we stayed two nights, the chef made sure we had different dinner options the second night so we could try new cuisines. Despite other guests staying at the facility, the staff is able to make it feel like we’re the only ones there for a private and premium experience. Megumi was also exceptional. She spoke perfect English and attended to all our needs during breakfast dinner service. She also served as a resource for helping direct our transportation needs to and from the facility. In addition to the warm hospitality, both the private and public onsens were clean and well maintained. The public facilities have the temperature adjusted already, whereas private ones can be controlled to your liking. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would come again in a heartbeat!"

"Stayed one night and a traditional Japanese room. The room was spacious (for Japanese standards) and clean. Balcony with View and sounds of the rushing river. The highlight of the hotel is definitely the onsen. Multiple indoor and outdoor bathing/soaking opportunities. We spent time in both public and private sections. Private was ¥2000 for 45 minutes. Also, a dry sauna, relaxing room, and massage chairs. Very helpful staff who gave a restaurant recommendation – – which was one of our favorite restaurants in all of Japan."
