"This unit is very special - it was, by far, the best of the three VRBOs we stayed in, during our two weeks in the islands. The location in the middle of the rain forest, is beautiful. The drive to Hawaii Volcanos NP takes less than 10 minutes. There are other houses along the road to the main highway, but the separation is such that there is no noise from other units. The living space is on the second floor, while the lower level provides covered parking. The unit has a very large combined living room/dining area/kitchen. All areas are well supplied. There is no central heating, but there are several local space heaters, including a propane "fireplace." The queen bed also has mattress heaters. The owners have labelled all appliances with thorough instructions, and included a multi-page notebook with information and instructions. There were 2 minor drawbacks: the road from the unit to the highway is in pretty poor shape, so one must drive 8-15 MPH for most of its length; the padlock on the gate to the property is difficult to open and close, especially if one has a little arthritis in one's hands. We would recommend that a better option be provided."

"Beautifully maintained property. Large rooms and perfectly prepared. Don't miss the hot tub. A nice soak out in nature with all the soothing sounds. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful! Going beyond the necessary. I stayed through a passing hurricane and they made certain i was well prepared for any potential problems and even prepared a meal in advance just in case, no charge. I highly recommend the lodge and thankfull to all the folks there!"

"This hotel is more like a rental house than typical hotel. There are only eight or so rooms and each one has nice views with privacy. There is no staff on site but you can contact them is needed. I would stay here again. One thing to consider, you are 30 minutes from most services. If you don’t mind that and want something quiet this is a great option."

"5 stars in every category, this little cabin is very private at the end of a little lane through the jungle that is nearly a mile long through the jungle and stretches of hydrangea hedge of all things. The drive nearly feels like a bit much the first time but after the first time it is no big deal.The cabin itself was very clean and tastefully decorated, no more and no less than exactly what you need. The layout is ideal and feels very spacious and likely contradicts what the actual square footage is. The hot tub on the large lanai was also very clean and great to enjoy after a long day exploring the area. We loved every part of our stay.Pro tip, there might be even less in Volcano Village than you are expecting. The one or two general store type places were pretty expensive and have limited inventory. Definitely bring what you want and need from Hilo. On the other hand we had a fantastic dinner at Lanikai Brewing just down the road from the cabin. I'm not sure I've ever recommended a caesar salad before but I'll do it now- made with locally grown greens. Solid beers also, maybe try a flight."
Romantic, Private Cottage Nestled Away in Volcano

"This cottage is so cute and cozy! Clean and convenient. Lovingly maintained by the owner who lives on the property. Super quiet spot hidden in the rainforest neighborhood. Loved the rain on the roof at night. It is located only minutes away from the national park so we could go into town for dinner and then go back into the NP at night to see the sunset and the lava flow glow. The town of Volcano is super small with limited groceries available, but there are some really good restaurants right there which were delicious!! We highly recommend this cottage!"
