The Biltmore Los Angeles

"Beautiful historic hotel, kept very clean, with great service. I really enjoyed our stay. However, it’s an old hotel and our room felt a little tired. A little shabby in places - faded glory chic, if you want to be kind about it. But definitely very clean, and the bed, pillows and linens were comfortable. Coffee maker in the room was basic but worked, and our request for more coffee and water was actioned immediately. No room service, so you had to order food from the hotel restaurants and take it up yourself, that was a bummer when we landed after a long transpacific flight. We had various dishes from the Gallery bar and restaurant, and they were strictly OK. Nothing to really complain about but nothing standout (except the meatballs, which were great). We overslept (jet lag) and missed breakfast, so can’t comment on that. Fitness center was pretty good, and you MUST swim in the spectacular original pool."

"Great, long term stay in one of the junior suites. The housekeeping staff is lovely and the staff in general are very welcoming, especially Oscar who provides driving services within a 3-mile radius of the hotel at no additional cost. He was a stand out. Front desk was OK and the facilities themselves were good. Room and bed were very comfortable and clean, albeit a little outdated. Very quiet and a good extended stay option, although rooms are on the expensive side for a long term stay. I was a little taken aback by the parking charges ($80/night) and the destination fees ($40/night) as they were on top of the pretty large investment for the room. The destination fee was the most perplexing considering the amenities - a very basic lap pool and a nice gym - I didn’t experience the benefits from that additional fee. The highlight was convenience (restaurants and other necessities), location and the people - just so kind across the board, with one exception of a snooty front desk guy but he was still in the range of normal ;)"

"I made a mistake when I booked with Expedia . I thought self parking is free parking . I ended up paying $63 / day . It was already late at night when we got to check in after the back and forth call between the Expedia and the hotel. The front desk upgraded us to a double queen instead of the king size and sofa bed. As always , Embassy Suites is clean , spacious room , indoor pool with good free breakfast ."

"Location is mot great as we realized it is not the safest neighborhood but it is close to airport and stadium which we wanted to visit. The staff were not very helpful. We came in an hour earlier, stayed in line to talk to front desk staff and they refused to allow early check in without extra cost. Then we had to run out to exit the parking lot before we hit the 30 min mark after which we had to pay. When we came back at the check in time, there was a long line! Clearly they couldn’t handle it, so they might as well allow early check in given the rooms were ready."
