"The staff were ok. The room was like going back in time. The furniture was discoloured and very dated. The bathroom was not great. Very disappointed with the breakfast. The photos show a nice continental breakfast but in reality you get some toast with jam or cereal with tea or coffee The rooms are not soundproof and we had some very loud ladies in the next room that decided to shout until 2am so no sleep for us All in all we would rate our experience a 2 out of 10 and that is being generous...

"Plenty of parking, easy to check in and very courteous staff."

"A lovely place to stay, very simple check in, room was lovely, doors opening onto a lovely little garden where we sat watching the butterflies and reading! Plenty of tea and coffee for the morning! Helpful owner 🙂"

"A good hotel, been here a few times now"

"This is a perfect spot for a cycling trip. Just at the top of the Manifold cycle trail. Also on the national cycle network path across to Hartington. We did 2 lovely bike rides. Would recommend down the manifold traila dn back up through waterhouses and lunch at the black lion in butterton. Helpful staff clean room comfy bed good breakfast. Would stay again"
