"Loved the location which is one block from main shopping area. Staff was super helpful and attentive. We stayed in a king balcony room and pls note that they are very small rooms. I usually compare room sizes but their website did not list SQ footage. . Our first room had a very bad cat smell and we asked immediately to move to another room. Graciously, the mgr gave us another room and it smelled better but it still had a faint cat smell. Later in our 3 night stay we overheard another guest complaining about the same. Apparently cats were once allowed but no longer. We also had a difficult time finding a charger in the town and were told most travel 30 min to charge. The cooler weather trumped all these issues and we actually extended our stay by a day"

"Highlands Haven is a very nice with a number of positive features and just a couple areas where there is room for improvement. First, the positives: The house is ideally located just minutes from the heart of Highlands but is tucked away in a lovely quiet residential neighborhood that seems far away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. For us, the two best features of the house were the covered back deck, which overlooks woods and where one can hear the flowing of a nearby stream, and the front porch, which is furnished with four comfortable rocking chairs and is the perfect spot to enjoy that first cup of coffee in the morning. The kitchen is well organized and equipped and the bathrooms are spacious and well furnished with towels, etc. The house was very clean and the host was always responsive if we had any issues. The only areas where we found room for improvement were the bed in the primary bedroom and the lighting in the living room. The bed in the primary bedroom is much too high. I am 6' and had to stretch to climb into it. My 5'4" wife had to get a running start in hopes of safely landing on top of the bed. As for the lighting in the living room, it is simply inadequate. There is little natural light because of the setting and the only lamps are two upward directed floor lamps. There is nowhere in the living room where there is adequate light to read a book or magazine. This could be easily remedied by the addition of some side tables and table lamps."
