"Basic hotel very well located. The ground floor rooms are very dated. Have stayed before and upper level rooms are far superior. Will return but won’t take a lower floor room."

"Room 302 was fine Room318 was noisy with noise coming through the wall from the boiler The macerator was noisy when using the toilet. The toilet linkage had come undone so the toilet would not flush. There was hot water going into the cistern in 318."
Cumbria Grand Hotel

"We stayed here 4 years ago. It’s dated but perfect for our stay. The view was magnificent. The room was very spacious and made our 4 night stay very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. TBH the prices for our race meetings at Cartmel were on the steep side. Prices to stay at the Cumbria Grand go up about £200 for a4 night stay because of the racing. Hoping to get a better deal next year. All in all enjoyed our stay. Bev & Dave"

"We very much enjoyed our one night's stay. We had brought our dog, and were allocated a dog-friendly room which was clean, well-appointed, with a comfortable bed and the decor was fresh. The dog treats, bedding and bowl were a nice touch. There are additional parking charges (none if booked directly with the hotel) and £30 charge per night for the dog - a bit steep but the all-in cost was similar to other hotels for this period. Breakfast is very good with a wide choice of options and there is a special area for those with dogs with good access to the buffet."

"Beautiful building and grounds with stunning views. Bedrooms and bathrooms very tired and dated. Broken bathroom floor tiles needs addressing urgently. Staff were amazing. All really helpful and friendly."

"Stayed for 2 nights the hotel was clean the staff where great and the beds comfortable, only real issue was the quilts on the bed they are way to heavy so not the best sleep as way to warm , but the hotel is perfect for a couple of nights very central with the station just across the rouad"
Stonecross Manor Hotel

"The room was clean, but in need of some TLC. The lights did work, when the receptionist was told she came fiddled with the light bulbs, eventually they came back on. Once turned off they would not come back on. Very much felt that was an issue the hotel knew about, but had not fixed. The staff at breakfast were not welcoming. When the breakfast came the bacon and black pudding were not fully cooked. The sausage was poor quality and very peppery. Rather disappointing. Will not be staying again."
