Haphazard service at breakfast, some staff had little knowledge of how to make drinks and decant port. Rose wine was not chilled! The chicken starter was substandard with gristle. No BBC channels on the TV so missed the snooker final. The afternoon tea was very good and should not be missed. The handles on the drawers in the room kept falling off.

We stayed on 17th July for one night as a base to explore Hadrians Wall and Hexham. The hotel is lovely and spotlessly clean, the staff v friendly and COVID aware and the food was excellent too. Recommended.

Luxury and relaxation in a lovely setting.
Lovely setting, gorgeous spacious and comfortable room. Good spa facilities. The food was lovely and the staff were really caring and attentive. Our stay was curtailed by Covid 19 but the staff sent us on our way with a snack for the journey.

Beautiful house in beautiful surroundings. Staff were so helpful ,cheerful and courteous at all times. Nothing was too much trouble. Both breakfast and dinner were amazing and presentation top notch. The complimentary drink on arrival was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend but its not cheap.

Great place to stay but a few niggles
Lovely hotel for four days with friends. Pretty good food (some wacky interpretations of some dishes at dinner). Great breakfast. Lovely room and en-suite but the mattress protector should have been cleaned more often. Wonderful staff who couldn’t do enough for us. The compact gym would have been ideal except that three of the five machines did not work properly! I’m sure we’ll return though. Overall it’s a gem of a place.

Perfect Country House Hotel
This is an absolutely beautiful country hotel. The standard of service is excellent. The ambiance is wonderful. Everything about it is perfect. This was our second time staying there and both times couldn’t have been better. The restaurant is exceptional. Afternoon tea is wonderful and the staff is perfectly attentive and discreet. We will definitely be returning in the future.
