The George Hotel

"The food is excellent i enjoyed breakfast and dinner. Room was very clean and the staff were all very helpful. Only one slight negative point...there was no shaver socket in the bathroom. Lovely location on the river and caught sight of some deer in the grounds early in the morning. I would definitely stay there again."

"One of the best places I’ve stayed in a long time. Stayed here with my son as a stop of point on a ‘road trip’ and what a place!! Hit the driving range and the meal in the restaurant was fantastic!! The staff were very friendly and even willing to have a joke and carry on with my wee son. Will definitely be back and highly recommend this place!! Would love to try a long weekend and the golf course as it looks to be in great condition!!"

"The bedroom was excellent,clean well furnished and appointed. The only small criticism was that there was a lack of comfortable space away from the restaurant space and bar but as we were only staying one night this didn’t matter too much. The breakfast was excellent and the bar food,whereas it was well prepared, was a little limited in choice. We would however stay again."

"We really enjoyed our stay for two nights at Battlesteads. Two things really stood out - the food was excellent (except chips - a minor thing), and the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and welcoming without being overbearing. The last point, about how all staff were nice to interact with, was a major selling point and is why we will return. A special shout out to Dan ("Dan, Dan, the beverage man") for being so helpful and recommending Flyte - a top tip! Ad Gefrin sold two bottles to us as a result! Such a pleasant time, great food, and drink, and an impressive walking guide (which we used) and an observatory on the door step!"

"Don’t bring a cat - there’s no room to swing it in the bedroom. And the TV was comically small. That being said, it was clean and tidy and the food excellent. Staff also very friendly."
