"I will start with a positive! Staff friendly and accommodating. That is the only positive I have to say about this hotel. Rooms leave a lot to be desired, very run down and would benefit from a good clean. We moved rooms 3 times before we made the decision to stay - wish I had stuck with my gut and left straight away. Restaurant and bar area needs a good clean just as much as rooms. I can safely say I won’t be back and certainly would not recommend this place. "

"Breakfast was ok, staff really good friendly and helpful but the property leaves a lot to be desired. Very dated and in real need of modernisation. We booked a room with a 4 poster bed then on arrival were told we had a free upgrade to a 4 poster room.... Strange seeing as that's what we requested anyway. Room was at best ok. The bed was pretty wobbly. Ceiling in the room was a false ceiling of tiles like you would find in an office and there have clearly been several leaks coming through from the floor above judging by the stains on show. Flooring was not the greatest in the bathroom area, a broken floorboard under the lino not been fixed causes you to almost fall over when you are not expecting the floor to give way on you. Electric shower and the water pressure was quite weak. We won't be returning."

"The swimming pool is out of order at the moment. was not notified of this when booking only a couple of days before I arrived. I was allocated room 56. Make sure you don’t get this room unless there is a heatwave. It was so cold that I had to ask to be moved during the night. The radiator does not appear to work in the room. I stayed for 3 nights, two of which had road closures outside the hotel . On the Sunday the road was closed from 7 am to 1 pm so could not leave unless you walked - and this hotel is some way out of the centre of Chester. Again I was not notified when booking. Staff ( other than the night porter and staff at breakfast) seemed entirely disinterested. No one actually apologised. I was offered another stay in the future, free of charge, but quite frankly I have no intention of ever returning"

"what a great hotel and spa, is to locate and easy parking, a brilliant warm welcome and the staff and manager were brilliant and credit to the company. we stayed for 2 nights and really impressed and definitely will be coming back. room was clean and tidy and a great bed, got a lovely sleep."
