"A comfy well-equipped holiday home. The owners were very helpful. We were treated to a very substantial welcoming pack on arrival. Parking was easy directly outside the house on a quiet road. Easy access to war areas of the Coxwolds. The perfect home from home."

We were given Room 14, which was large and had a very spacious bathroom -- the largest by about 4X of any place we stayed in for the whole trip (5 hotels in different cities). The lodging includes breakfast, which was a full English breakfast if you wished ... not merely fruit, yogurt, cereal and pastries (although they had those as well). It's an easy walk into the town, and we took advantage of the walking footpaths close by as...

"Perhaps outside of summertime our experience would have been different, but unfortunately it was difficult to enjoy this property without having air conditioning during the summer months. Our room was sweltering both nights, even with 2 fans constantly on and the window open. At night when the temperature cooled down, the common areas were comfortable yet our room still felt like a sauna, making it difficult to sleep. There is no lift or doorman to help with luggage through the gravel driveway...

"Great staff and customer service, rooms nice and clean but air con was not brilliant and the sinks in the room would not put out cold water for more than 5 seconds and kept flowing extremely hot. Apart from that it was a nice stay"

Check out,come down stairs to reception you could not move for people and also outside on pavement. + Room was excellent plus the Bar staff was excellent."

After making the booking they sent a message informing us about the late night music which was not advertised in the description. I asked to cancel but they refused, and said they would allocate a quiet room instead. When we arrived they had downgraded the room type (no bath included as promised) and did not offer to alter the price."

"Beautiful, historic building, with lovely, tastefully decorated rooms. The staff were very helpful. Good breakfast was included in the room price. We were there during a heatwave and the room stayed uncomfortably warm all night, but I do not fault the hotel for this. Would definitely stay again, though perhaps not in midsummer. 😄"

"Room was very clean however very compact and narrow for a family of 4. Hotel was very clean and staff were very helpful and great to work with. Breakfast was very good! Only issue was that I misread that the pool was not onsite and was only accessed via a local shared pool in another area of the town. Parking was not included and was in a multistory next door with a subsidized rate."

"For a slice of history, you can’t beat the Porch House. A warren of comfy eating areas downstairs with halls leading out to the village. Clean charming rooms. Really nice staff that make you feel like the place belongs to you. And the wonderful “snug” for late night post up with a friend (or daughter in my case!)"
