"We arrived early, though we couldnt check in early we were given our parking pass so we could park up amd go exploring. The car park is right on site amd easily accessible. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice and the coffee was amazing. The bed was very comfortable to get in after a lovely long soak in the bath. No issues with the tv. In a closet there were tea/coffee making equipment, hairdryer, iron and trouser press. Oh and there was also an electric fan which was amazing as it was such a hot day."

"The suites are beautifully decorated and very spacious. It’s such a relaxing environment for properly unwinding. However the pillows aren’t very comfortable. My only other issues were with the cleanliness of the room. Hairs were found on the desk. Drink marks in 2 areas from previous occupants, dust under the coffee table. Also the tumblers in the bathroom need to be thrown away as they were not fit for further use. There was some noise coming from a few loud guests up to 10.30-11pm who were in the outdoor bar/restaurant. It wasn’t too much of an issue on a Monday night but weekends could be quite different depending on which room you are in. The bar area is nice and the cost of drinks is quite reasonable considering the location."

"Staff were very helpful at reception and in the restaurant. Lovely breakfast and plenty of choice. Food was also very good. Would recommend to friends.Our room was very small and wardrobe was not tall enough to hang clothes."

"Would definitely stay here again despite the hotel being in need of a lot of money spending on it. Very large room. Good walk in shower (needs a safety handle/ rail for walking in and out), terribly tiny sink with nowhere to put toiletries (small glass shelf above like leaning tower of Pisa, needs a spirit level). No fridge. One chair near small tv. Great view and privacy. We were attending a crime book festival nearby hotel. The atmosphere, decor, gloriously old feeling, and the size of the Cairn hotel with its wandering corridors and large ballrooms/ dining rooms put us right there in the right mood. Breakfast was a 5* offering with the best service we've had for a long time. Hot drinks and toast brought to the table was wonderful. Staff totally wonderful throughout our stay, except the 2 men behind reception,when I came back for our luggage, who watched me struggle to get 3 cases from luggage room and out through the foyer with no assistance offered. (A guest took one from me and took out to waiting taxi for me! I could manage the other 2, I am 73 and my 85 year old husband was in the taxi). A very enjoyable stay. Real ale in bar good. We saw people having afternoon tea and it looked far better than Betty's. Scones enormous and delicious (they were on offer at breakfast)."

"Really nice hotel. Bar area was busy and restaurant food and service were excellent. It was quite noisy having to check in at reception which was in the middle of a noisy bar. The room and especially the bathroom were incredibly small. It was difficult to move around the room."
