Coastguard Lookout by Bloom Stays, Dungeness - one of a kind!

"A fabulous place to stay with unrivaled views over Dungeness but needing a bit of TLC now. It's an imposing-looking piece of architecture with the 4th best viewpoint of the sea, the beach and the land - only the two lighthouses and the power station are taller and none of them offer accommodation. In the Coastguard Lookout the view from the lounge and the balcony outside the upper bedroom are fabulous, day or night, when massive ships lit up in the dark pass along the English Channel. Some of the fixtures and fittings are getting very worn now - the curtain that sections off the toilet was broken at one end and hanging down, many of the windows are either sealed shut or the handles unworkable and we couldn't find a bottle opener or a can opener anywhere in the kitchen. The iMac is no substitute for a television - it's on a low shelf and there is no remote control and the email we received from Bloom gave the wrong password. There is one very nice, comfy chair in the lounge but the bench with cushions is less than ideal. So, it's now time for the owner to get in and have some maintenance done, but despite that, we really enjoyed our time at the Coastguard Lookout and I would certainly recommend it to anyone seeking a fabulous, unique place to stay at Dungeness."
North Vat, by Bloom Stays - a coastal that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms

"North Vats gated garden made our stay very enjoyable. The views from every window and door were stunning. Its location adjacent to the lifeboat station made for interesting watching especially as at the time of our stay was filming going on for a promotional film for the RH& D railway. This is our fourth stay on Dungeness so we are already sold on the location, the Fish Shack and the peaceful and still nights. We found the mezzanine bedroom to be stuffy during our stay and the rooflight didn’t help with ventilation. This was in late August after the extreme heat. We liked North Var, particularly the garden and location, however as a family of six adults there wasn’t as much space or bedroom storage as we had thought there would be. There were just six of most things which meant regular washing up and this could ne easily sorted."

"It was a privilege to be able to stay in such a stylish and unique converted building in an imposing location at Dungeness. Other reviews mention snags in the property. It’s getting a little tired and there are things mentioned in older reviews that still aren’t fixed but that did not negatively impact our stay. Overall it was incredible to spend a week at Fog Signal building and experience Dungeness. Carefully curated furnishings and accessories. Huge windows and doors to watch the skies. We sat at the open doors until it was pitch black, the stars were amazing. Our top tip would be to use a little warm water and a squeegee (we had one in the car) to clean the salt from the windows for a fabulous clear view. Wonderful unique property. Thankful for have had the chance to stay there."
Pump Station by Bloom Stays in Dungeness - stunning location

"We had a lovely stay in Dungeness and it was a great opportunity to properly disconnect from London, particularly during the heat. The location is fantastic, with plenty of opportunities for long beach walks and great food, and having the Snack Shack right across the road was a real bonus. Our only minor gripe was that, despite requesting and arranging a high chair and travel cot in advance, neither was there when we arrived. When the first travel cot was delivered, it was unfortunately covered in what can only be described as bird poo! This was dealt with very well and promptly by the hosts, but it did make the start of the stay a little more stressful than it needed to be, especially with a baby. That aside, we had a really enjoyable stay and would happily return"

"Perfect house for family stay. Excellent layout and facilities - all bedrooms with en-suite. Outside kitchen great for BBQ’s and hot tub enjoyed by all. Direct access to dunes and beach made it easy to have fun with the family by the sea. Would thoroughly recommend."

"Our stay at Sotine Beach House was a great success. The house had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, tv room great for the children to sit and watch on their own, kitchen very well equipped. The children loved the hot tub, which was maintained every day, and they loved the play room. Well situated for the sandy beach and some lovely local attractions.we would love to visit again."
