"The main reason to stay at this hotel is its location. You are essentially staying inside the park, and the convenience of being just minutes from the entrance is hard to beat.
Unfortunately, the location is where most of the positives end. The biggest issue during my stay was the lack of air conditioning. The rooms become extremely hot, especially at night. Mine felt more like a sauna than a hotel room, and I barely slept because the heat was so overwhelming. Considering the price of the rooms, I found this difficult to justify. The hotel also lacks basic amenities. There are no refrigerators in the rooms, so there is no way to keep water or other drinks cold. What made this even more frustrating is that guests are charged for ice. When paying premium rates, charging extra for something so basic feels unnecessary. The hotel charges $21 per person, each way, for shuttle service to and from Flores. The restaurant was also disappointing. The food was expensive and did not justify the prices. Fortunately, there is a much better option just outside the hotel grounds. A short walk brings you to Comedor Imperio Maya, a small local restaurant serving authentic food at reasonable prices. Some guests may be lack of Wi-Fi and televisions in the rooms. Personally, I did not view that as a major issue. Bring a good book and enjoy the surroundings. Overall, you are paying almost entirely for the location. Just be prepared for hot rooms, extra fees, limited amenities, and no options."
