Just tucked away enough to feel like a private oasis but an easy and quick drive into Amboise, which was a perfect home base for exploring the rest of the Loire. "The property is one of a kind with its natural caves. Christophe the host along with his dog and cat make you feel welcome upon arrival. The property is truly remarkable albeit slightly humid as it is a natural cave. With a swimming pool surrounded by natural rock and rooms that are one of a kind, it is worth staying at Le Clos de l'Hermitage."

"We had a lovely couple of nights here. So quiet and relaxing, a true luxurious and romantic place. We had the lodge with the hot tub which had gorgeous views of the pond (number 17). Slight issue with horse flies when walking to and from the main area through the woods but they didn’t like insect repellent so that worked well.
One slight downer was we didn’t get asked if we wanted to book tables for dinner in the evenings and one night was fully booked with what must have been non resident...

"It was a privilege to stay at the clos. The property is a beautifully managed winery and the hosts are very warm and welcoming. They live on the estate and graciously share their knowlege. Our only suggestions would be some fans or dehumidifier for use when it is very hot. While the home stays cool if the doors are closed, it also gets damp since it is stone. Many thanks to Claude and Francine for their hospitality. "

We easily accessed the retreat with a 20-minute drive from the Gare St Pierre des Corps, where we rented a car from Avis. The house blends old-world charm with modern comforts—comfortable beds, a newly updated shower with instant hot water, and a contemporary toilet.We visited in mid-May when the weather was perfect. The blooming rose garden and nearby fields of vibrant poppies added to the serene ambiance. Practical amenities were just a short drive away in Amboise, with excellent dining and groceries available.The property boasts a rich history, highlighted by the cave that once served as a wine press for its renowned Vouvray white wine. The artistic touch of our kind hostess is evident in the beautiful paintings that adorn the home. "This is a lovely rustic country house on an acreage minutes away from Amboise. The hostess Marie-Josephe is a lovely woman who is very generous with her produce from her garden and fruit trees. Her free range chickens are entertaining and the eggs are delicious! We would recommend staying here if you’re looking for a quiet, out of the way location, yet within minutes to Amboise, the Chateau, restaurants, and vineyards!"
