Exquisite Hill Country Cottage-Giraffe and wildlife experiences

"My family and I stayed at the property in early August, and we had a great experience. We enjoyed the pool, the scenic hill country views, hiking, stargazing, and seeing the beautiful animals. Also, it’s close enough to Lampasas that running into town is easy. Strongly recommended!!"

"The cabin far exceeded our expectations. When we first arrived, we immediately went out on the deck looking for goats and horses. We were thrilled to find 2 friendly goats and took a few minutes petting, scratching and taking pictures before we got to the task of unloading the car. On the second trip to the car, we turned around to find a gang of goats (conjures images from West Side Story) coming down the dirt road toward us. Soon we were surrounded will playful little ones play fighting and practicing their tree climbing skills. The horses came by later. We were ecstatic! The cabin itself was adorable! Our hosts were wonderful and accommodating. We enjoyed the extra touches (bottled water, high end soaps, fresh flowers and herbs, thick and fluffy towels). The bed on the main floor was extremely comfortable with soft, clean sheets, and comfy pillows. My daughter slept in the loft on one of the inflatable mattresses and said it was comfortable. After a hot day hiking in Colorado State Bend SP, the pool was superb! With a tree and pole nearby, I was able to birdwatch from my pool float. The windmill added to the charm. The dark sky and Milky Way were icing on the cake. I highly recommend for a country getaway. NOTE: As cautioned by the host, be sure to check around your car for goats, even with the fencing, a little guy made his way inside the parking area."

"This pet-friendly cabin was very inviting. While there some stickers, this was most likely caused by the adjacent overgrown lot.The pool was so relaxing and is partially shaded by the luscious Pecan trees later in the afternoon for those who don't like direct sunlight. The cabin stayed very cool even though the outside temperature was over 100 degrees. The kitchen is fully stocked with enough dishes, glasses and silverware...there are even glass Wine glasses!San Saba is a sweet town only 18 minutes away, it has a Winery, lovely parks and even a splash pad to help cool off.We recommend staying at the River Cabin."

"The property was great for our family reunion. It got us all and we had a great time. The landscaping was beautiful. The pool area was very nice. The pickle ball court and outdoor ping pong were hits. Lots of life jackets of all sizes. The place was very clean. The property is impressive when you drive in. There are two onsite workers there all day, and one worker that seemed to stay all night. We didn’t expect to see someone there so late and so early in the morning. The benefit of the workers is they will lay out pool towels for you and can answer some questions that may arise. There were some maintenance issues. But overall we were happy to find a place that could fit all of us. Overall, we had a great time."
