"I would describe this property as much more as a cottage than house. It is in a good location, located on a major east west highway that provides easy access to various areas in the UP. The Les Cheneaux Islands area is one of the hidden gems of the UP. The cottage has a small kitchen with limited counterspace and a compact bathroom. There is a limited amount of bath towels and no washer and dryer. The house is located less than 150 feet from the highway so you will hear traffic noise, including occasional heavy truck traffic. The road in not heavily traveled, but often enough that I would not describe the location as “quiet”. The cottage sits across the road from Lake Huron but there is not any access and only limited views of the lake from the property. There are lake access locations in Hessel and then from Cedarville towards De Tour. If you are arriving on late Saturday or a Sunday, verify with the host as to what is available in the cottage, because St. Ignace or Sault Ste. Marie are the nearest places, we found, with grocery stores open on Sunday. There is also a Sunday farmers market in Hessel with a good assortment of items, as well as a nice farmers market near the intersection of I-75 and M-136.If you are looking for a convenient launching spot to explore the region, this cottage is a good choice."
