"Staying in a 170 year old historical mansion has its quirks. For us, we enjoy them. It certainly provides more character than genetically antiseptic chain hotel rooms. The Galena Inn had a few of them. Our quiet in the carriage house was lovely and well appointed. Steps across the property were good for us but may prove a burden to those with mobility issues. The main house is stunning. Antiques are era appropriate. The daily breakfast was excellent the 2 days we had breakfast. The staff is knowledgeable and engaging. We didn’t take advantage of the well stocked and well appointed game room but imagined we might if we stayed longer and/or in the main house. The location was perfect. We had immediate access to the ‘high school steps” which literally take you down to Main Street."

"The room was beautiful: spacious, nicely decorated, and very clean. Unfortunately, other parts of our stay didn't match it. The jacuzzi tub in our room wasn't working, which was a letdown since it was one of the reasons we chose this property. We were traveling to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary, so before our trip I contacted the hotel to ask if they could arrange something special for us. I was happy to pay extra, but I never heard back. When we arrived, I brought it up again at the front desk, but the receptionist didn't seem to be having a good day and wasn't very helpful. For a special occasion, we hoped for more attention and better communication. The room itself was lovely, but better responsiveness from the staff and a quick fix for the jacuzzi would make a big difference for future guests."

"the breakfasts were amazing. Carol and Kate were great hosts. My wife and I only had one complaint, that was the bed was way too soft. This is obviously personal preference. We would definitely stay here again. Galenda is an historical town with a lot of charm. We loved our trip. The Steamboat House was a great place to stay. Thanks Carol and Kate."

"Far beyond what we anticipated. Warmly greeted and show to our room. Top line toiletries and added touches. Yes our room was small but well appointed and we did not plan to spend much time in the room. Wine and cheese at 5:30. 3-course breakfast at 8:30 am. Amazing! Will be back!"
