"Brand new mattresses, so comfy. Suite was very big. Large, clean washroom. Lots of parking. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was opening day for the hotel but the restaurant wasn’t open yet. Our only complaint was that the floors squeaked so we could hear the people above quite a bit. "

"Everything was great for our three night stay which has been a tradition each Nov/Dec for the past three years. Everything in the bachelor suite was great, clean and in good shape. When we had some challenges with our toilet on our last day, Mike was at the site and came quickly to try to fix it. When that wasn't possible, we were offered the opportunity to stay in the house for our last night. Of course we were delighted to accept this offer and enjoyed the house to the maximum, especially the beautiful staircase, sun room, piano, comfortable bedrooms and the pool table in the lower level as well as the direct access to the swimming pool! Thanks so much for this incredible upgrade for our last night. The kids were so happy to enjoy the house. "

"Although the Rita Suite was clean, comfortable and roomy, and it is in a great location, we found it lacked some basic amenities for travelers such as: Salt and Pepper, cooking oil, servettes, extra roll of paper towel, and sufficient amount of coffee pods for the length of our stay. As well, there was no "Welcome Basket" that we are accustom to seeing at other VRBOs that includes such things as preserves, crackers etc. (i.e. small items that are often not brought by travelers). Lastly, there was no Information packet that includes a list of recommended local restaurants and sites to see in the region (i.e. providing local knowledge). Again, this is often provided for guests who are not familiar with the local offerings. These are not significant issues by themselves, but they were noticed by their absence. This feedback was provided during our stay not as a criticism per se but as a means of enhancing the experience for future quests.That aside, everything worked as expected and the host was very responsive to any questions we had, which made the stay enjoyable and relaxing."

"Bottom line: this is a fun place to stay, and I think you will enjoy yourself if you stay here. House needs (and deserves) some TLC. The house could comfortably accommodate 8 guests, and maybe 2-4 more. We were not really familiar with Rita McNeil prior to our visit, but if you are, this place will be a thrill for you (it's her former home). The indoor pool is a lot of fun, and the backyard is vast and very nice. Its a quick drive to Sydney. The property is large but not isolated. It even has a piano. So I give this place 3 stars instead of 4 because 1: the owners were almost impossible to reach. I sent them 4 separate messages on VRBO and even a direct email to the address on their website just to confirm that they had our booking. I asked for advice on local activities and got a five-word response about kayak rentals. I didn't see the check-in instructions until the day before. 2: The bedrooms and bathrooms are nice, but much of the furniture in the house is dated and in rough shape. A lot of the trim pieces around the pool are missing or damaged. Swing by the waterfront needs to be fixed. 3: The kitchen needs a good cleaning with scratch pads. cabinet handles are gummy. It has plenty of pots and pans and utensils, but most of these were in bad shape. Appliances are dated. Outdoors, we saw cigarette butts between the deck boards and in the yard. I'd say this house could easily be a 5-star destination with a little work and investment. "
