"The grounds are a treat, accessibility to a lot of the beautiful landscape near by (if driving) is great, bathrooms are good, and the staff... flawless! What wasn't so great is that there's no air con, so if visiting during a heatwave, can be quite a challenge. Also, tried offering a room right above a plant room which had a constant release of a gasoline-smelling substance, which would be toxic to be breathing in, trapped in a room. They did, however accommodate by offering a range of other rooms, with no drama. 3 stars, from a 4.5 due to no air con (and not being pre-warned prior to booking), offering 2 rooms with fuel fumes which is a health hazard... other than that, for the price, good!"

"Upgraded to sea view room. Room service breakfast very good ( albeit i asked for scrambled egg and got poached with full English breakfast). Evening meal ( fish and chips) was very good. Useful fan provided in room. Traffic noise in sea view room but does reduce significantly before midnight"

"This is the review which I sent to the hotel itself....Hello, I was enchanted by the age and distinction of your building and we were in perfect timing to enjoy sitting out on your patio and enjoying the vast view over the fields as the day drew to a close. Lovely waitstaff. I appreciated the print out about the history of the place from the front desk when I asked about it. It was definitely the nicest and biggest bed we slept on during our 2 weeks of travel in the U.K. Soft pillows and the clean, white linen felt luxurious. I only wish the smoke alarm (?) above our bed wasn't flashing brightly all night long. It kept us from sleeping well before our early morning flight out. That was the only part we didn't like. With such a large property parking was plentiful. I know it's a good way to make extra money and seems to be the U.K. way, but it would seem that parking wouldn't be an extra charge. Oh, also, my spaghetti carbonara was just so so. Not very flavorful. All else was great! Thank you!"

"Delicious breakfast and evening meal. The meal was reasonably priced. Couldn't turn off the aircon in our accessible room. It had a connecting door which was not soundproofed. The changing room for the swimming pool smelt and the floor was dirty. Staff were very kind and helpful and overall cleanliness was good. It was an easy walk to Tesco for last minute shopping."

"Nice hotel. No lift but staff did help me carry my bags up the two flights of stairs. Car park is a few minutes walk away which wasn’t great as I had heavy luggage. Very helpful staff who did make me the most amazing takeaway breakfast due to me leaving early in the morning ."

"Nice to return to this property after a few years. Stayed for 2 nights and the service was very good - especially David on the front desk and Ellie in the bar. The room was well appointed with the only downside being the aircon pegged to 19° which isn't ideal in this heat."
