2/10 Terrible

"When we checked in there was a flyer/letter stating that water would be cut off between 8pm and 8am without any notice. It also took an incredible amount of time to check in. Later while we were laying in bed I noticed a strong cigarette smell. I called the front desk and was put on hold for 15 minutes. I could hear the lady checking in guest after guest after guest. She never acknowledged me again. I could also hear her offering guests water, discounted breakfast and more for the inconvenience of no water. We were not offered the same. The wall were incredibly thin and we could hear our neighbor blaring the TV. Do better DoubleTree. Hire people that care."

"Nice place to stay. It has a bar with a nice setting where you can enjoy a variety of drinks/cocktails, some delicious food and great people serving you, lots of parking, pool, jacuzzi, convenient location where I felt safe all the time."

"Customer Service does not exist at this location—nor with Hotels.com. Booked through hotels.com—no indication on their page that the minimum check in age is 21. The only indication of this was in the confirmation e-mail sent. The issue is it was a same day booking with no cancellation refund. When my employee showed up to check in, he was seemingly going to be allowed to check in. The desk staff unhappily sent me an authorization form for incidentals to be charged to our company CC. The next call was from our employee that they were not allowing him to stay. They asked his age and he was met with a 21+ policy. He was essentially stranded until we could find a hotel that allowed under 21. In all of the work trips to Chicago, NY, KY, FL and so on, we have never been met with this issue or the unsatisfactory customer service. The hotel said they would cancel on their side so a refund could be processed. They did not and refuse to do so now. They have taken the $177+ with no resolve alongside Hotels.com (who is essentially at the mercy of this property). Shame on me for depending on Hotels.com to display correct information and shame on me for not going to the properties official webpage for their rules."

"The property and rooms were super clean and comfortable. I was so surprised to see this hidden GEM in Chicago. It is close to Devon street where we love to go for food and shopping so GEM will definitely be our stop every time we are in Chicago area. Breakfast was so good not the usual buffet at other places but a made to order and hot and yummy. The service was outstanding. I would give it a 10/10 and totally recommend it."
