Beautiful lakeside retreat - Perfect for the adventuresome family -pet friendly

The Lake House at Picture Rock Ranch is located in the stunning Torrey Valley Canyon 12 miles from the town of Dubois. The completely rebuilt historic cabin features two bedrooms with views of Tail Lake, one and 1/2 baths, full kitchen and laundry, a screened in front porch, wood stove, and a pull out coach to sleep up to six people.

Enjoy the serenity of the water at your front door and the beauty of the Ross Lake Glacier in your back yard. Take your morning coffee on the dock and watch the sunrise on the peak of the Absaroka mountains. Spend some time paddling on the lake in a canoe or kayak, or try your hand at tricking a trout with world class fly fishing in the lake or on the Torrey Creek that runs through the property. Take a short hike to the Indian petroglyphs (ancient Indian rock carvings) on property and in the canyon, or hike the many trails surrounding the Lake House. A campfire and smores might be a great ending to your day.

We wanted to relax and unplug and we did just that, thanks to the lakehouse. We fished, kayaked, hiked, explored Dubois and enjoyed every minute of the cabin, location, weather, people, and amazing views. This was our favorite vacation, and we've traveled, and we will be back as often as we can.

We chose the cabin for our honeymoon and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The cabin provides a unique sense of peace but also opportunity for adventure. This place is truly a unique find and every bit of 5 stars.

Thank you, Jerry, for sharing your lovely cabin and the cookout on the 4th! The cabin had everything we needed. I loved all the animals: deers, foxes, prong horns, osprey, rabbits and fish. We had such a relaxing time walking your property in the morning and reading on the screened porch in the afternoon. The dogs and the cat had the best vacation of their lives as well. We will be back!

The Lakehouse was great. Everything was very well represented in the ad making it easy to know what we needed to bring and what could stay home. We all had a great time exploring the area. Best of all, we could just hang out at the cabin and enjoy a great lake and dock right out the back door! Host is super friendly and very accommodating to any questions or needs you may have. Thanks again Jerry!

We stayed here because of the remote and unique location. We wanted to photograph wildlife and wild places and this location was key. We love the area and all there is to discover in the Dubois west. Our hosts were excellent and the cabin perfect for our needs.

The property was even better than we imagined! We loved the lake and river - it was super easy to just jump in a kayak and enjoy. The kids loved to play on the mini-beach. Quite, unique and unforgettable hidden gem!

Very peaceful and relaxing place to get away. Jerry was very kind and welcoming and leaves a nice personal touch for his guests (I won’t ruin it for future guests). It is definitely in a very remote area. If you like the outdoors and are looking to disconnect, this is the best place. The Lake House has everything you could need, way more than any other places we’ve stayed in the past. Linda, the caretaker of the ranch, was absolutely amazing and we very much enjoyed meeting her.

We enjoyed the cabin and location so much in our first stay, last year, that we came back for a second year. Glad we did. The hikes, the country, the paddles and life at the cabin and on the porch - another fine family get together in this beautiful valley in this well-kept historic cabin.

We had an amazing week at the lake house. Its in a gorgeous spot, near a trailhead with miles of hiking, ancient rock art, and a chain of lakes (w/ good fishing). We spent a week there "working" remotely (during COVID) and it couldn't have been a better getaway for that type of thing. Kids, dog, and grownups all had a great time.

We enjoyed our stay at this remote lake cabin which has amazing views. We spent most of our time on the screened-in patio and fishing from the dock. Perfect base camp for exploring mountain trails, Yellowstone, and ATV riding. This rustic cabin with modern upgrades has everything you need to have a great vacation.

5 star location 5 star host Propperty had everything we could want or need. Our only complaint is that the master Queen bed as actually 2 mattresses strapped together. A nice bed in the master bedroom would be nice.

This was our 2nd time at the cabin and we really enjoyed our time once again. There’s so much to do in the area whether hanging out on the lake, exploring around Dubois, or heading over to GTNP. House is plenty comfortable with everything we needed, but boy those mosquitoes really got us even in the few seconds between car and porch every time!

We loved this cabin on the lake! The screened porch was perfect for everything from morning coffee to watching the sun set. The cabin had everything we needed - a compact but well equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. Located about 8 miles down a very decent dirt road, it was close to activities in the Whiskey Mountain Basin and the Fitzpatrick Wilderness, as well as farther afield. A great place to begin exploring the area.

Such a great place to come and relax! The surroundings were beautiful. We utilized the dock for fishing, the kayak to paddle around the lake, up the stream and then float back down. We also hiked around the property including up to see the petroglyph. Jerry was a great host! Thank you so much for having us!

We booked this property last minute after we seen our week had opened up. Jerry was quick to respond and sent his number for easy communication. We arrived to a clean welcoming cabin. The location is beautiful and peaceful. The lake and the views were nothing short of spectacular. The surrounding property was stunning. Jerry and his family were so kind and we loved speaking with him about the history of the cabin, and the ranch itself. We loved the kayaks, canoes, and fishing and coffee on the dock. We would absolutely recommend this place for a quiet get away or some time with your family. Thank you Jerry and family! We can’t wait to come back The Elliott family.

We were so lucky to find an available week at the lake house! Everything was perfect, from the wonderful screened in porch, the well-stocked house, the lake view and the canoes, and especially Jerry, Kate, Kurt and the friendly dogs. Thanks for sharing with us. We will return.

Our family (2 adults and 2 children, ages 5 and 7) had such a wonderful week at the lake house! It is in such a special location, with the lake and creek on the property, and was a great jumping off spot for so many outdoor adventures. Jerry was very helpful in giving suggestions of things to do and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin itself is beautiful - very comfortable and tastefully done. We hope to be back one day!

If you are looking for beautiful surroundings, then this place is for you. The 360 views are breathtaking and there is a lot of different activities to enjoy. We spent the majority of our time rowing up the river and then floating back down. My husband enjoyed some time fishing off the dock also. There are great places to hike/walk and the dogs that live on the property are happy to be your guides. Jerry, the owner, was wonderful with communicating with us, and he made sure we had what we needed. We already booked our next trip there!

The charm and setting of the cabin made it difficult at times to leave it to venture out on our planned excursions into the beautiful surrounding country. The tastefully furnished and restored cabin is comfortable and well-stocked with essentials. The porch is perfect for reading, conversation and relaxation and the lake and creek provide peaceful kayaking, chilly dips, and good fishing. The surrounding country offers a variety of enchanting and challenging hikes and, for those interested, the cabin offers a fine collection of books on the region's history. We spotted bighorn sheep as well as mule deer, osprey, eagles, and, of course, ducks and loons. Jerry was always helpful and responsive to our questions, but left us our privacy; he is a true steward of this historic and lovely property.

I honestly can’t express in words how wonderful this property was for my husband, son and his girlfriend. If you are looking for peace, beauty and relaxation you will love the Lake House. Jerry and Linda (his property caretaker) were so thoughtful - when we got to the property there were 2 state flags flying Wyoming & Nebraska! We fished the lake, hiked to Lake Louise, visited Dubois and made a day trip to Jackson and the Tetons!! The kayaks and the fishing as well as the comfortable house made this one of my favorite trips- we will be back! It is a 6 mile drive off the highway to the house, it is an easy beautiful drive and makes the lake house so private and was exactly what we wanted!
