"The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They were kind and professional; however, we did have an issue upon initial check in. We traveled with a pet dog and they booked us in their pet friendly area. You could tell it wasn’t as maintained as the main area of the hotel, which is what it is. They likely want to keep people with pets away from other guests. Our room wasn’t clean when we checked in—my dog immediately found a moldy cup behind the bed, and found wrappers next to the other bed in the room. There was also water dripping from the ceiling. We notified the front desk and they remedied the problem immediately. They got us into another room that was better and also much cleaner. Not sure I would stay again after that, but I did appreciate their willingness to fix the mistake and problem. They made it much less stressful than other properties might have and we appreciated that greatly. The breakfast was decent, and the main areas of the hotel were clean and pretty. The internet worked well, too."

"We were looking for a place that was reasonable and close to downtown South Haven. This hotel was great and had everything we needed, including a free breakfast. Staff was amazing and it was nice to have a good breakfast."

"The Zeeland Michigan Avid hotel was clean and quiet. No deposits, no paper work or questions, or id. The service amazing. Air conditioner and mini fridge worked very good. Coffee, tea, sparkling water limitless 24 hours. Breakfast would benefit more varieties of eggs and bacon, sausages. There was amazing varieties of teas, honey, and creamers. Would be nice to have a closet in the room. If ever we got to Holland/Zeeland Michigan would definitely go back to this hotel."

"The Pines is a quintessential motor lodge, exactly what I recall from my youth! It is immaculate, well appointed and the location is perfect providing an easy walk to both Douglas and Saugatuck! The owner is hands on, personable and very accommodating. I would absolutely return!"

"Our stay was excellent. This was out first time there and it didn't disappoint. My only suggestion would be that you make sure that you bring an extension cord with multiple outlets on that cord. There are only a few outlets in the tent, so extension cords would be very helpful. Other than that, I highly recommend this place."
