"This was our third stay here at Quintinha São João. It really feels like the most wonderful home away from home rather than a hotel. You're made to feel so welcome and looked after by the most dedicated and friendly staff. I can't imagine anywhere else in Funchal coming even close to this place. And it's all mostly because of the staff too. They can't do enough for you. Everyone from the reception staff to the serving staff to the cleaners and the spa staff made us once again feel so welcomed...

"We arrived late in the evening after our transfer from the airport. The resort had arranged the transfer for us and the driver was waiting at arrivals for the 8 of us in our group. He was great and gave us a bit of a tour on the way to Calheta.
Our reception at the resort went well and the woman on duty made sure we got down to the buffet before it closed. She was very friendly and attentive to our needs after a long day of travel.
Our rooms were modern and clean and cleaned and tidied well...

family. Comfortable rooms, pleasant staff, decent breakfast and a la carte, useful games room and squash court. 5 mins walk to restaurants for lunch or dinner. Nice ocean view. 45 mins from airport and 30 mins to Funchal. On quiet part of island which we preferred and hired a car. Would recommend. Hotel was a little dark and if outdoor pools were heated we could swim comfortably. Large hotel. We parked along the road for free. Weather changes a lot in Madeira and...
