Luxury Hotels in Durham from SAR80

"Lovely welcome with help with bags offered without asking. Friendly check in and immediate help when our ‘phone wouldn’t work in the room (not that we needed it- apart from to call reception to book our hour slot in for the spa facilities). Good service for food and drink on the evening and a lovely breakfast. My only slight ‘gripe’ is the hour allocation for the use of the spa area. I understand it’s to keep the number of people in the area limited but we got a bright orange ‘all inclusive type’ bracelet to wear and it just seemed the only part of the trip that was a little unnecessary. However, the spa facilities were also lovely although we could only use certain facilities. Gorgeous room with a complementary upgrade and Elmis toiletries suppled. I would definitely return! "

"This was a great property to stay at. Lovely bed and a fantastic shower. It is a grade listed building having previously been Durham's council chambers, and for a while part of the university. The cathedral, castle and town are all walking distance. Highly recommend "

"When you pull up, you are thinking you are getting an average hotel; nothing special. But when you walk through the door, it’s like going through the Twilight Zone. The lobby is excellent. The room was recently updated; very clean and comfortable. Very impressed, and it is just off the motorway. What’s not to like. Very pleased. "

"Stumbled across this place when looking for a stop over after visiting our son get married in Scotland.. all staff are very friendly… special mention to Owen who greeted us… food was absolutely amazing.. excellent choice and portion size and good value.. fab location for Durham and surrounding areas… would def revisit if coming up this way again… fab stay "

"The building was beautiful, room super comfy and the food excellent. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. The only minor issue we had was accessibility - there is only a very small lift that we could only just fit our pram into. Additionally, as someone who is pumping milk it would have been useful to have a fridge in the room, which I did call ahead and ask about, but there may have been some confusion. The staff were great about storing it for me in their fridge, and there is a 24 hour reception, but it's not ideal to have to go all the way to reception in the middle of the night if your baby needs feeding. We made do with a bucket of ice, and I do appreciate their helpfulness, but something to be aware of if you are in a similar situation! "
