"The hotel’s location is great only a short walk into town there’s a small Tesco about 100mtrs away incase you forgot something there is a multi-storey car park close by, its an easy walk from the train station, opposite is Sparks great street food,in the street behind Sparks is a great Italian restaurant called Mazarno it’s really excellent Italian food but booking is essentially, breakfast at the hotel is included and there is a very good selection to chose from both hot and cold."

"Nice rooms with plenty of space "

"Breakfast was good although you had to book a time for every morning ( We would have preferred to just turn up when we were ready. ) Bathroom musty as no window or working fan. Window in bedroom didn't shut properly. Very noisy, window rattled with buses going past. Good location, short walk from centre and everything we wanted to do."

"Room was ok, bit small, 4 poster bed was comfy, but very creaky, bathroom was small, sink was in poor condition, shower was awful, wasn't very powerful, an was either scolding hot or freezing cold, no in-between.... so a cold underwhelming shower it was..... Had hardly any sleep, due to location, groups of drunk people walking past shouting, until 3:30am, then 5:30am, bin lorries, and then deliveries to the pub, so no chance of a lay in... definitely would not stay here again, was not worth the money..."

"A very clean, well maintained hotel. The room was surprisingly large compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Europe. Everything in the room was spotless and very comfortable. It’s a great location and valet parking makes checking in very easy and convenient. I would recommend The Grand York and would stay again"

"Great stay at the hilton"

"Lovely hotel close enough to the centre of York for convenience but just enough out of the bizz. Mattress was very much on the firm side for me but that's just personal preference. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. View from the bar, over the river was lovely. Breakfast had a good range of food. No brown bread at all on our first morning. However there was a nice selection of breads the next two mornings. My only small issue is that I like poached eggs and, on asking, the chef wouldn't do them. That's the fist time I've been at a buffet style breakfast and been refused a poached egg on request. It didn't detract from the enjoymen of my visit."
