Enjoy an idyllic stay in Cherry Tree Cottage, a beautiful Grade II listed home in the heart of the tranquil village of Eydon. Surrounded by gorgeous rolling countryside, this traditional country cottage is the perfect stay for everyone - a romantic space for couples, a rural retreat for families & friends (including four-legged ones) or even a quiet escape for study, work or business trips.
The Space
As you enter the cottage you will be welcomed by the characterful living room, with a comfortable sofa and fireplace with wood-burner, perfect for cosy nights reading or a TV marathon. A well designed kitchen provides all the basics you need to cook up a storm after a busy day exploring, and a beautiful dining room in the conservatory is the perfect space for soaking up the sun or night skies - and conversation and catch-ups. You will be kept warm with the central and underfloor heating.
For those looking to get a bit of work done on their trip, we have a self-contained study with a laptop-friendly desk and ergonomic chair where you can tuck yourself away for peace and quiet.
Upstairs you will find three beautiful bedrooms, all served by a shared bathroom with shower; perfect for a peaceful night’s sleep.
Cherry Tree Cottage is built of local honey-coloured stone and dates back to the 1700s. It is bursting with character but, due to the age of the property, has some relatively low ceilings and doorways with floors at different levels.
Outside there's a small private front garden with lawn space to sit, shaded by an old apple tree and a magnificent cherry tree.
Eydon is a beautiful place to explore, with friendly locals and plenty of interesting places to visit year round. The locality has a rich history and grand estate houses Canons Ashby and Sulgrave Manor (built by George Washington’s ancestors) are a scenic walk or short drive away. Known as ’the hidden Cotswolds’, the locality is characterised by stunning open countryside. There are numerous dog-friendly walks (many direct from the cottage). An Ordnance Survey map on the study wall shows the network of footpaths and byways.
The Royal Oak pub (our local) is just a five-minute walk and has good food and atmosphere. Further along the High Street, there's a pop-up farm shop and an excellent wine shop, Oboe Wines, whose friendly hosts are on hand afternoons and early evenings to help you choose from their eclectic selection. Mumfords Butchers' well stocked mobile shop visits Eydon on Wednesdays. Their van parks at the village green around lunchtime and sells fruit, veg, eggs, meat and other comestibles. Harley Equestrian Cafe has an eclectic collection of shops from art to clothing and plants.
The cottage is also a great base if you are looking to explore other areas too, including Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Silverstone, Stratford-Upon-Avon and the Cotswolds, all of which are under an hour’s drive.
