Second Wind - Pool, Game Room, and fantastic Crow's Nest views of the Island!

Second Wind is a popular Dauphin Island beach rental with great Gulf views and is just across the 2-lane street from the Gulf of Mexico Beach.

Second Wind has an ideal beach house layout- 4 bedrooms, a Game Room, a small, private, heated pool, and roof-top Crow’s Nest; it’s easy to see why this beach house is one of the most popular vacation rentals on Dauphin Island.

This elevated, two-story home has a Master Suite on the first level with a private full bath. There is also a half-bath off the kitchen. The Great Room is large, open, and has a flat-screen TV over the fireplace. The Second Level has three bedrooms, two of which share a Jack and Jill half bathroom with a shower. There is a third full bathroom on this level and a Game Room (great for nighttime or rainy days). The 4th bedroom is a small bunk room just off the Game Room, which is quite small and suitable for children. The rooftop has a “Crow’s Nest,” which provides panoramic views of the Island. This house is NOT Pet-Friendly.

Gulf Beach access is 1/8 mile from the end of your driveway!

As with all of our Dauphin Island Beach Rentals, all linens and towels are provided, WIFI, along with a fully-outfitted kitchen. There will be a starter pack of toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags; please plan on bringing more for day 2 ;). A great beach vacation is waiting on you! The pool is heated from October thru April.

Pool Heating Note: Pool temperature can vary during cooler months, as the system relies on outdoor air temperatures. In colder conditions (around 50°F), heating may be less effective or temporarily unavailable (45°F and below), and it can take up to 24 hours to reach the desired temperature when weather allows.

House Rules:
1. Minimum Age for the Primary Renter is 25, and Primary Renter must be present for the entire stay.
2. Maximum Occupancy numbers include Children 3 and over and cannot be exceeded at any time.
3. All of our Homes are Non-Smoking.
4. A signed Rental Agreement is Required, which contains additional Rules and Guidance.
5. This property does not allow weddings or parties.
6. Check-in time is 3 pm, and check-out time is 10 am.
7. Start dishes and linens before departure.
8. Take the trash can to the street on Tuesday night and Friday night.
9. This home is NOT Pet-Friendly.

Beautiful views from the top of the building, including gorgeous sunsets. Very nicely decorated to enjoy the natural light inside. Fun little porch pool!!

Multi family vacation

We had 3 families with kids raging from 2-15. The crows next was the best part of this house. We watched every sunrise up there with our coffee. Spent a lot of time playing pool and foosball which was helpful for entertaining children. The pool was also great for the young children who weren't the biggest fans of the ocean. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation! It was so easy to communicate with the hosts. If you decide to stay here say hi to the mourning dove that hangs out by the house....we named him Dave!

Annual Family Island Escape

We loved staying at Second Wind! Location, location, location. Proximity to beach was almost like being ON the beach. Spacious home with plenty of sleeping space and 3 1/2 baths. The Crow’s Nest was perfect for DI fireworks display and viewing the amazing Alabama sunsets.

Perfect beach house

Everything was perfect. Wi-Fi was out but fixed the next day. Pool water was a little too cool but t they came right out and adjusted the temperature and it was great from then on. Needed propane for the grill, got it the next day. Could not have asked for better customer service. Lots of room and plenty of sleeping areas. Will definitely stay again. Go on the beach at 6-7am and load up on good shells

Had a family week at Dauphin Island, house was perfect for multi generational family. Swimming pool on the deck, pool table upstairs and roof top deck were big hits. Down side was lots of stairs to get in the house. In general a good stay

Second Wind is second to none

Had a wonderful time very spacey home pet friendly pool was awesome no houses on either side makes It feel like you are alone . Me and wife rented golf cart great way to see island had wonderful time. See you again in August 22 already booked again

Perfect for families

This was a great location to just come to chill without all the crazy tourist action. We were 2 families that are best friends 4 adults and 6 kids ranging from 2 to 11 the pool is small but perfect for kiddos! I loved that they always had something to do whether it be ride scooters, play at the beach or swimming in the pool. Although there is plenty to do on the island, we did venture off the island by taking the ferry over to Ft Morgan which we highly recommend. Overall could've been cleaner upon arrival but wasn't unacceptable. We did have to leave a day early due to typical Strom Ida but that couldn't be prevented.

Overall very good

Great location for the price, and the ability to accommodate pets. The crows nest on the roof has an incredible view, and the living room area with a large sectional is a great place to relax at the end of the day. But it needs some home improvements. The crows nest has a great view but there are several nails that need to be hammered back in. The wood boards around the deck need attention, one next to the pool came apart when stepping on one side. There was mildew on the shower curtain on the main floor. And most importantly- the mattresses. They are old and in very poor condition.

Pretty good!

The location itself was great, not too far from town, but super close to the beach. The house was huge and well planned out for a lot of people. And the pool was an awesome touch at the end of a long beach day! The only down sides are that there was no lift in this house for bringing a bunch of stuff in/out. The entry doors were hard to get unlocked, and it really didn't look like the house had been deep cleaned in a while. Overall though we would definitely come back and use these vacation rentals!

Nice beach house

We enjoyed our stay! The house had plenty of room and was in a Good location/property but just needs some updating/TLc. (Pool needs a cover-we were unable to use 2 days bc outdoor temps were cool so that was disappointing) (windows upstairs did not shut and doors were hard to open/close. ) Other than those little things, the house had everything we needed, they had a ton of beach chairs & toys and was an easy walk to the beach! For future renter-do not speed on this island! We got a ticket within 5 minutes of bring on the island & saw many others pulled over too.

Everything About This Place is YES

Excellent, excellent, excellent place to stay, especially if you have a family and want to quarantine in style. Honestly, its the best vacation we've ever had. It was so nice to swim in the pool and then hit the beach. We saw some magnificent sunrises and sunsets, and the crow's nest at the top is the perfect place to watch the stars at night. Cooking at home was a breeze with the fully stocked kitchen. My only regret is that I didn't book two weeks. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Family Beach Trip

Our family had a great stay at Dauphin Island. It was also great that we were able to bring our 2 dogs (and that they could go on the beach). The house is located in a great area of the island ... more remote and on a quiet cul d sac. The kitchen was well appointed (except for spoons) and had an array of cookware! The pool was fun on the deck and nice to have after a day at the beach. The birds eye deck was also fun and a great place to watch the sunset. My only constructive feedback was that it could have been cleaner. The sheets were not in good shape and the dishes in the cabinets were not clean - requiring us to clean some when we got there.. that aside, we had a great week and really enjoyed the location!

Family retreat

The house is well suited for a big family gathering. The island and short walk to beach is very spread out and the beach is mostly clean (some seaweed comes in with the tides). The observation deck and pool are great add-on features. Be prepared to bring everything that you need. A bit annoying to have to change propane, get batteries for remote, light bulbs, and basic essentials like dishwasher detergent and salt/pepper are a few examples. The beds are only fair and overall the accommodations are of average quality (furniture / kitchen appliances). All in, however, we would return to this house.

Big house, fun stay

The house was plenty big enough for our large group. The kids had fun in the heated pool. Everything you need is in the well-stocked kitchen. Even though the house isn't beachfront, it's a much shorter walk than I anticipated.

Beautiful !!!!

The house was fantastic. The location was also great. Lots of room for a large group and plenty of space. The pool was so refreshing at the end of the beach day. Only thing I'd like to see different is more comfortable furniture for the wonderful porch sitting and maybe some beach chairs to use. Otherwise the place was wonderful.
