Fantastic peaceful location within close proximity to sites like Thunder Cove and Cousinss shore beaches as well as communities like Victoria by the Sea, North Rustico, New London and Kensington,
Thunder Cove Beach is a few minutes in the car and worth the rental on its own. Breathtaking sunsets from the upper deck. Would definitely consider renting again.
Ideally located quiet property overlooking Darnley Basin. Close to Thunder Cove beach, Malpeque and grocery stores in Kensington. Cottage had all amenities of home including BBQ, washer and dryer and it was very clean. Family had a great time. Owner was very pleasant.
We booked the cottage for a family vacation to PEI and instantly felt comfortable as soon as we walked in. The large common area on the main floor had lots of space for us to eat and visit together, and had a great view out onto the water so we could watch fishing boats, birds, and the sky. The cottage is a great location in the middle of the island, so easy for us to get to many different places all over the island, great for our planned road tripping around the island!
My husband, 2 kids and our dog had an excellent week-long stay in late August. The property is clean and quiet and the views are beautiful. Thunder Cove Beach is super handy and is a lovely place to spend the day. If you want to be away from the busy, touristy parts of the island and right on the water (although still an easy drive to all attractions), you’ll love this property. The hosts are friendly and quickly respond to any questions. Recommend!
Our stay at this cottage was heavenly. It was very clean and comfortable. We were waterfront and used the kayak and paddle boards daily. Great place for the dogs to run and swim and play as the water is shallow and there’s an outdoor shower to clean them up. The bedroom balcony was my favourite to just look over the water with a glass of wine, watch the sun go down and and watch the eagle soaring by each day!
Literally a perfect spot for a relaxing vacation
This property is in a great location, with beautiful views of Darnley Basin. The water is very shallow and warm perfect for shell collecting and wading. A short climb down to the water makes it great for families . We loved the kayak and stand up paddle board with the warm shallow water.
The cottage itself was so clean and well stocked. It’s a very quiet location with lots of yard to run around in for kids. Lots of space inside for our family if 5 as well.
It has a beautiful main suite with the best lookout deck for morning coffee and sunsets.
It was about 20- 30 minutes from anything we wanted to visit on the island with two amazing beaches 2-10 minutes away for more swimming (Thunder cove and Cabot beach are both must sees).
Carolyn was great to communicate with. We would love to return.

A nice cottage … but with some challenges
This is a nice, clean, modern cottage which is conveniently located for exploring the northern shore of PEI.
However, there were several challenges which significantly affected our ability to enjoy our stay there:
1. The beds: there are three beds, at least two of which seem to only be double beds which is a challenge for a family staying there with four adults and two children. Most significantly, the downstairs double bed — which my wife and I ended up with was in horrible condition, creaking and squeaking every time one of us moved. This meant that we did not get adequate sleep on any night we were there. This was our biggest concern for the entire week we were there.
2. The mosquitos: The mosquito population there was very active. Except for a few times when the winds were string enough to clear them away, the mosquitos were so bad that we did not spend any time outside the cottage when we were actually there. That was a disappointment.
On balance, while it was a nice enough cottage, the beds and the mosquitos definitely affected our ability to enjoy our PEI stay.
We had a wonderful week in this cottage - the property is beautiful and so close to the water, which our kids loved. The cottage itself is clean, spacious and was filled with everything we needed to make the week even more perfect. The host Carolyn, was very responsive and a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend this property!
A+ in all aspects. The location is perfect for sunset viewing and access to warm, shallow water. The house is lovely and is in a perfect location for island touring and for access to a wonderful beach at Thunder Cove. The host is friendly and responsive and the check-in process is flawless. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a true getaway in an idyllic spot on a wonderful island. We'll be back!

The property is 3 bedroom although the ad says 4. Other than that it’s an amazing spot!

Amazing vacation
Where to begin... the cottage itself exceeded my expectations. Roomy, clean, comfortable and well situated. I called dibs on the master bedroom upstairs, to the dismay of my teenage daughter... I spent many hours sitting outside on the balcony, soaking in the sun, admiring the sunset or even star gazing. The constant breeze is a great bug repellent, and that’s a big bonus in my book! My dogs were happy to splash in the water right by the cottage, and us two legged had access to a long stretch of sandy beach right across the street.
And I could go on and on...
I will definitely recommend this place to my friends!
It was my first time back to PEI since I was a small child. This property was perfectly located. Clean and well kept. Wished we could have stayed longer!!
We loved this place! It was a great home base for touring the island. My kids really enjoyed playing down by the water, having a fire and watching the sunset. Super convenient to Thunder Cove and Oneils is a nice place for dinner.
We were blessed to be able to come up to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary on a dream trip. The host accommodated us very last minute, made sure everything was ready and perfect. We enjoyed the rainy day, watching the boats out in the bay. We enjoyed touring around our end of the island on the sunny days. And we especially enjoyed the lovely accommodations. Everything we could want or need was in the house, welcome binder was awesome with recommendations (eat at o'neils, and don't miss teacup rock!). With the lupin all along the back yard and some of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen, these memories will last a lifetime.
We can't thank you enough!
We loved our time in Darnley. The cottage matched the description but was way better looking than the pictures. The situation on the bay is beautiful and we loved the view from the upper deck off the master. A small issue with the aging dishwasher was promptly fixed by Steven and his brother in law. Kudos!
Clean, well-equipped & quiet waterfront country cottage
We rented this pet-friendly cottage for a quiet fall (September) getaway. The cottage and yard provided a nice waterfront base from which to explore the island.
The cottage’s bedrooms, bathrooms, and open concept kitchen/dining/living room area were clean, comfortable and well-equipped with everything we needed for the week - including a dishwasher and a full size washer and dryer. We really appreciated the high-speed internet.
It was cool and rainy during most of our trip so we were not able to take advantage of the 1st or 2nd story porches but no doubt they would have been a great place to relax with a drink and enjoy the view after a long day of summer sightseeing. Similarly, we did not venture onto the shoreline.
The cottage was a comfortable base for 30-60min day trips to Cavendish, Charlottetown, Summerside, Kensington (where we linked up with the Confederation Trail), and our new favourite, Victoria-by-the-Sea.
Our family of 5 (plus our doodle) spent 2 amazing August weeks in Darnley. Perfect cottage for our family, great shallow shore for playing around and a short hike to Thunder Cove for a swim. We’ll be back!
