I picked this hotel as I was off to the Welsh show and was struggling to find anything closer (it was still a 45 minute drive to the showground). The hotel is set in a lovely spot, very quiet and peaceful.
We had booked a small double room, which was perfectly adequate for what we needed, although the shower was over the bath and you could not stand underneath it. The choice of digital TV channels was also limited, but as you are in a valley I wasn't surprised. The room was also very warm and neither my husband nor I slept particularly well even with the windows open.
However, the staff were great, making sure that we had everything we needed. We ate in the restaurant in the evening where the food was lovely and they had a good selection of wines, however it was pricey. The view from the conservatory was fantastic.
As we were leaving before breakfast the following morning they did us a breakfast tray the night before.
One thing we did notice upon leaving in the morning was a tandem bike which you could borrow from the hotel. The hotel also sells fishing licences, so I would imagine that it is a fantastic spot to do some salmon fishing.
In summary the hotel is great, the staff couldn't do enough to help and it is in a lovely spot. The food was pricey, but worth it. We are hoping to go back at some point in the future and stay for longer as one night wasn't long enough.
