"We loved staying in a house built in the 1600s! It was like getting to sleep in a museum rather than a hotel.
Also - the Continental Breakfast was more than we expected! Beyond a few kinds of breakfast bread and a toaster, there was also whipped cream cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and a couple types of fresh fruit. We were very pleased.
There were only a couple drawbacks (which would NOT keep me from recommending the experience):
As no one works a front desk, you have to repeatedly call to ask questions or store your luggage, etc. Even the ability to text - rather than call - the staff would make this easier.
The shared bathroom on the 3rd floor was adorable, but the ceiling is precisely 6 feet. The shower is in a beautiful old claw-foot tub a few inches off the floor. The showerhead is suspended a few inches from the ceiling. And you're surrounded only by a shower curtain - without shelves or other conveniences. If you're over 5 foot 5, showering is a bit of a challenging, hunched over affair."
"Stunning character property. Large reception/entry area with comfortable seating and access to free water, lemonade, tea & coffee. Reception staff were very friendly - we arrived early (around 12pm) and our check-in was around 3/4pm, however, staff allowed us to check-in early. They also gave us free bottled water, a map, and advice re attractions/dining. Adjacent bar/dining area was spacious - again, staff were friendly and drinks were good (didn't order food). Room itself was cosy and as pictured online. Limited storage for clothing in the wardrobe, however, not a problem for us. Bathroom is small, so if you're a larger person it may be uncomfortable/difficult to use. Toilet is very close to sink and feels cramped when using (shouldn't be an issue if you're not a large person). Bedroom was clean and bathroom was almost completely clean. Some beard trimmings on the mirror around the sink (not ours), however, not significant enough for us to ask to be addressed during our stay (we was only staying one night and had a tight schedule). Where our room was located was quiet and we weren't disturbed during our stay."
"Flawlessly updated, centrally-located historic property ! Quiet with amazingly comfortable beds and a bountiful pantry for enjoyment by guests. Our entire stay was just perfect. We will be back!"
"I loved staying on the property, and so did my son. The apartment was situated between a park, with splash pads, and grills on each side. It was close to the ocean. We went to Winter Park, on Waikiki Beach. Being so close to the beach was a nice surprise. We travel to Salem 1-2 times per year, but this was the first time that we found a nice beach, for swimming. We had groceries, and food delivered. We grilled out, at the park, and then we also visited all of the witchy shops, in Salem. Salem is within walking distance, of the apartment, and on the days that we were tired, Uber was there, in minutes. Salem is the spot that my 12 year old, and I do our Mom and Son bonding trips. The apartment was quaint, and met all of our needs. The bed was amazing. I have a chronic pain condition, so a comfortable bed is a huge thing, for me. The apartment was stocked with towels, washcloths, and toiletries, in case of any forgotten items. I did forget my toothbrush. But, they had some stocked in the bathroom. Yay! I couldn’t tell you much about the host. I got all of the information I needed, in advance. Any time I messaged with a question, I got a response immediately. The host let me have my privacy, and didn’t bother me, and I love my privacy. The complimentary tea and coffee bar was so nice. I’d definitely stay at the property again. This trip, and this apartment stay was amazing!"
