Not what it used to be
The service was not what I have experienced in earlier stays. They, somehow, had no knowledge of my Expedia booking for the two rooms but were able to accommodate me. When I went to check out at 8 am I was told that they normally don't open the office till 8:30. While the staff person did accommodate me, it seemed to be an unusual statement for the hotel. The antique decor from previous ownership is still in place, which I appreciated.
Needs a refresh. Not the cleanest, smelled. Perhaps needed a good airing out and wouldn't take much to
Update. Wasn't using appliances but stove not working. Staff/owner was very friendly and did ask if we needed stove as it wasn't working.
Loved the room ! Bed was very comfortable and it was so quiet and peaceful. I found everything very clean and tidy. Have stayed many times at the Bluebird and have always enjoyed my stay!
The staff was friendly, efficient and accommodating. The space was roomy, fresh, clean and relatively quiet considering the highway is so close. Lots of green area outside for our dog. The beds were a little hard for our taste, but okay for one night.

Antiquated
The Bluebird is a highway motel trying to digitize itself as a bed & breakfast; without having any breakfast. The room is filled with kitschy antiques, pillows and lumpy old antique furniture, which might be appealing to some, but to travellers like us, just gets in the way of trying to snag a good nights sleep. After we cleared away enough bric a brac to put our own stuff down, the room wasn't all that bad, fairly clean, and the assorted paraphernalia did give the place a quaint homey feel, (if you like that sort of thing) myself, I will go to the stark, usually clean lines of Motel 6 next time through.

Classic Blue bird Motel
This is a motel that sits on the edge of the highway. For years I have said I would stay there sometime;last week I did. Friendly front desk staff, clean room, comfortable bed. Good WiFi. Although right beside the highway it was still very quiet.
We stayed in the Calgary Stampede double room.It was very clean and quiet. The young man at the reception desk was extremely pleasant. The beds were comfortable. I would definitely stay there again and have recommended it to others.
There were many mosquitos outside and inside the room. I had to kill more than 10 mosquitos at the room that day before went to sleep. Finally I was bited many times that day. Also this hotel was a little expensive comparing location and facility and imposed the cost of booking in Expedia to customers.
Well maintained older motel. Really comfortabke room with all amenities. Only thing I did not appreciate was the $8.50 web booking charge added to my bill.
A quaint little place, for us it was ideal as we were visiting family close by.
The room was spacious with everything you needed.
The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and welcoming.
Overall it was a nice place to stay.
Good value for the money.
Bluebird was a pleasant surprise. Very helpful staff - we had some problems with our booking, but everything was solved thanks to the nice man at the desk. The rooms can only be described as charming, with curious details. We had the RMCP-room, filled with paintings, a uniform, boots, even handcuffs. It was like sleeping in a museum! The beds aren't the best we've tried, but the charm makes you forgive anything!

We loved it
Charming place and people, we'll be back. Loved the kitsch decor and old fashioned warmth.
