Stackville House is laid out over three floors on The Street in the heart of Bibury. A quintessential, cosy and completely charming Grade II Listed, two bedroom Cotswold stone cottage, at heart of Bibury "the most beautiful village in England." directly opposite the famous Arlington Row & perched across the road from tranquil River Coln. Built in the 17th century, Sackville House retains its beautiful original features of exposed beams, stonework and timber doors.
Swan Hotel, Trout Farm&shop<3 min walk.
Cribbs Barn & Stone Barn<8 min drive.

Superhost - 'sparkling clean'

An enviable picturesque waterfront position directly overlooking the River Coln with views over the private garden patio to the river and water meadows.

The private garden terrace is perfectly located to pour yourself a cup of tea or a glass of wine; relax on the garden bench and watch the idyllic Cotswold village life and Bibury's many swans flat by!

Stackville House's ground floor has an open plan lounge/dinning space and kitchen area for common use (sofa bed also provided in the lounge space). Here you can curl up in front of the fire* after a walk around Bibury or the surrounding Cotswold's; relax playing board games or enjoy a fantastic meal provided or our personal Chef Mike or the village Pub or Restaurant after waning away an afternoon sightseeing or exploring the beauty of the Cotswolds right on your doorstep.

Climb the original 17th century stair to the first floor (rope handle rail and restricted space mean that this maybe be unsuitable for those with restricted mobility) where the Master Bedroom with king size bed and luxury mattress makes your sleep as comfortable as your stay - wake up to the Cotswold birdsong and light pouring through the open windows in summer with uninterrupted views out across the water meadows and Arlington Row.

The good sized cottage bathroom with beautiful roll top bath encourages you to light some candles and enjoy a long luxurious soak after a days walk. A modern electric shower is also provided over the bath for ease of use.

The attic and second bedroom are accessed via a characterful 18th century spiral stair (again suitability for those with restricted mobility may pose a challenge). This oak beamed space with picturesque iron frames windows allows views out over Bibury and beyond and has been renovated into a large 2nd bedroom with another luxury double bed and mattress. Sleeping space for an additional double mattress is available here also.

Sackville House is positioned above the high street enabling beautiful views from the small private garden across Arlington Row, water meadows and the river. access from the High Street to Sackville House's door is via seven steps; five on the path plus two to the gate and garden.

there are some fantastic walks from our door taking in the beautiful river coln, open Cotswold countryside and numerous fantastic traditional pubs!

We have fitted a key safe so you will be able to check yourselves in at any time throughout the day without contact with your hosts - although we are only down the road!

You are able to use all of the cottage (but the basement is out of bounds!).

Parking is free at all times and available on the street less than 500 yards from the front door.

Please feel free to contact me for any queries. I am happy to help and can be available in emergencies.

A variety of luxury welcome hampers are available on request to greet guests on arrival. Please get in touch to allow this to be arranged.

Our Private Chef Mike can provide beautiful 'a fair bit more than your average takeaway' home delivery of beautiful bespoke menus on request. Please get in touch to allow this to be arranged.

The Market towns of historic Cirencester and charming Fairford with well provisioned local shops, coffee houses plus some wonderful restaurants and pubs. Both high streets have lovely local markets every week and well stocked supermarkets/local convenience stores less than 15 minutes from Sackville House's doorstep.

Oxford is less than 50 minutes from the door step with its historical architecture and fantastic sights and museums.

Parking
Free at all times <500 yards from house on the high street. No Restrictions.

Couldn't beat the location and quirkiness of the cottage. Had a great time - finally remembered to duck!

Beautiful location. However when we got there the temperature in the house was extremely cold. When we arrived there were windows open in every room. We had to leave for dinner and hope it would be warm when we returned. We returned and it was warmer but not without coats. It finally did warm up but it was discouraging not to be able to sit comfortably and visit for the evening. For the expensive price I found that disappointing especially since we were there for only one night.😕

This was a fabulous home. We would rebook in a heartbeat and recommend it without hesitation. Only problem we had was the internet went out day two and the hosts were unable to be contacted. We tried through every means possible. Turns out they were out of country. They were apologetic however this did us no good with regards to the problem we had while there. Had it been a cheeper vrbo we might not have cared. This was the treat for our family and we had been counting on the WiFi. Other then being left with no contact the he place was amazing. Town is beautiful and the home really is 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Dark, Dingy, Dirty. Photos are MUCH better than actual property. Upon arrival we found the trash overflowing and stinking, dirty dishes in the dishwasher, greasy and food crusted pans and cooking utensils in a filthy oven. No house instructions left by hosts. Contacted host about the trash situation and nothing was done. Parking was a total hassle—difficult to find an empty space-and located quite a distance from the cottage. If you leave with your car in the morning, don’t expect to find a parking spot when you return in the afternoon. Couches in living room very uncomfortable and the one that is a sleeper sofa is unacceptable for sitting on with the springs poking you . This property is way overpriced and we are going to be asking for a partial refund from VRBO. Highly recommended to NOT STAY Here. Barely enough room fir two to stay comfortably. Totally disappointed to say the least.

My family and I had a wonderful time at the cottage! It is in a beautiful little village and across from a stream with lots of fish and birds for our kids to enjoy.
