"Small but cozy. The location is relatively quiet but also very convenient for tourists wishing to start exploring right from Shanghai's city centre. "The property is in a good location, but that’s the only positive thing I can say. The bathroom smelled heavy Uribe that’s hasn’t been properly cleaned at all! The odor was so overwhelming that we couldn’t even use the bathroom comfortably. It was so bad that we had to call housekeeping at 1:00 a.m. to deal with the smell. Unfortunately, it completely ruined our stay. I would not recommend this hotel unless they fix the terrible odor problem."

"The twin bed rooms have no privacy, which was okay for me & my daughter, but would have been awkward with a friend. You step right out of the shower into the open shared room. The listing doesn’t make it clear that this is a 5th & 6th floor hotel. You enter through a tiny, unmanned lobby (a bit spooky and unwelcoming, no one to help with luggage) and have to take the elevator to the 5th floor to check in. These quibbles aside this hotel was a lovely surprise. It’s right off of a fantastic pedestrian shopping & eating area, a super easy walk from the City Temple, Yuyuan Gardens, the Bund, and the ferry terminal for river cruises. Although it’s a super busy area (insane vehicle as well as pedestrian traffic), we could not hear any noises at all from our 6th floor room. The free breakfast is AMAZING — so many beautiful prepared dishes, both Western and Chinese. Not the exact same things every day, either. The A/C was perfect, the shower was great, lots of useful amenities. I’d happily stay there again, if I ever get back to Shanghai."

"We had a very pleasant stay at Central Hotel Shanghai. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located close to many attractions, shopping, and restaurants, which made it very easy for us to get around. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the check-in and check-out process was reasonable and smooth. We did have a small issue with the shower drainage, but after we contacted the front desk, someone was sent to our room right away and took care of the problem promptly. Overall, we were happy with our stay. The convenient location, cleanliness, and quick response from the staff made our experience a good one. We would consider staying here again on a future visit to Shanghai."
