Relaxing and fun stay!
We are a group of friends who got to get away for a long weekend together. We loved the space and the location- lots of open area in the house and outside but still very close to the city. A few things I wish I had known were that there is very sparse cell phone service and that there was a portable dishwasher. Luckily I'm familiar with how to use one but most aren't. Most of the supplies were well stocked, but there were not enough silver ware for each person. There were also only 2 trash bagsand no extra blankets. Otherwise it was a great stay at a great location!

Perfect for large groups
We were considering reserving 6-8 hotel rooms for the nights before & after a family reunion in Traverse City. Found this property on VRBO & couldn't have been happier. We had plenty of space with great amenities plus a huge cost savings vs hotel rooms. Very nice experience!

Farmhouse Deluxe
We rented here 5 years ago. Many lovely updates. Spacious. The house was clean and like all houses up north had a few little beetles that were never an issue, no ants. Linens were clean and all rooms had fans and a screen to put in the double hung windows. Loved it.

It was not a good experience.
The house is in a bad location, the house is old, it was dirty, at night you could hear people passing by outside, there was no air conditioning, overall it was a bad experience and we will not return to this house. Very disappointed as it looked very nice in the photos.

This was a great location for a small family reunion. We loved the peace and quiet of the community and the deck was lovely to sit on and sip a glass of wine and converse. Plenty of bedrooms for our group.

Enjoyed this place...with room to spread out
We were three families doing a little reunion up north--eight adults and three children--and we found ample room to spread out among all the sleeping quarters. I'm a fresh air freak and I liked the sunny, airy feeling of the upstairs bedrooms, although the better bathrooms are downstairs--including a newly renovated bath in the en suite located off the dining room (really nice tiled shower in that room). The upstairs--where most bedrooms are--has only a tiny fiberglass shower with a curtain that wants to deliver water to the wood floor there...a separate room next door hides a sink and commode (which is very slow to fill between flushes--and sometimes doesn't fill). Modern conveniences like exhaust fans to remove bathroom moisture, and electrical outlets, and windows that open smoothly and wide--these things are not found in heritage properties like this. The mattresses could be cushier/updated. The wifi was awful sluggish. And there was only one house key--would have been better to provide two. But we found everything we needed, including kitchen utensils, linens and towels. And the surroundings are positively beautiful, especially in the morning and evening, when you can see and hear sandhill cranes, deer, muskrat, and other wildlife roaming the rolling hills. A short drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes and T.C., and lots of farm stands providing sweet corn, cherries, peaches and more for old-time slow food lovers. It met our needs and we enjoyed our vacation with this old house as our home base.

Beautiful farm house. Plenty of room, 11 of us had more than enough space not to be crowded. Highly recommend this to any large group.

old house with lots of character
This house is HUGE and truly unique. The largefront sun porch overlooks the Catholic church across the street. We enjoyed drinking coffee at the table on the porch while people watching and enjoying the beautiful sound of the church bells. The house is truly historic. It has had many additions over the years, leading to an interesting, somewhat erratic floor plan including occasional small steps up/down between various sections of the house. Our young kids found this was truly a magnificent palace to explore, as each of the many rooms is unique. However, it is not recommended for someone unstable on their feet, as you have to be aware of all the small steps as you walk around the house. Also, the staircase is slightly un-level and a little steeper / has shallower steps than the current building standard. The old wooden windows have adjustable screens you can put in easily yourself, and they create a fairly good seal, though you will find an occasional moth that sneaks through - if you can’t tolerate an occasional errant (harmless) insect, this is not the place for you. There is no A/C, but we stayed in late July and were comfortable between open windows and the fans provided in each room. The hot water is quick to run out, but seems to replenish quickly as well. The house is conveniently located to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Omena, Leland (Fishtown). It is also just up the road from several small local wineries. A GREAT location for exploring the area.

12-day stay at Somewhere In Time
Served our purpose well. Loved the peace and quiet of this place. We were initially concerned because some previous reviews had commented about a musty smell, but we had no problems. There is a very slight "old home" smell, but it reminded me of my grandparents' farm house. Plenty of space, the the house has lots of character. We'd definitely go back.

Too many issues
Property was very smellly. Kids almost puked and got sick. They provided alternate accommodation however there was no water. Overall we lost all our vacation due to this place. Very disappointed. I strongly don’t recommend for any future travels unless otherwise a clear answer from you. I am available for a call if you want to talk to me.
