"We travelled to Castletownbere from our home in Dorset to meet up with an old friend - we are pushing 80 so most of our friends are old! We hired a car at Dublin Airport and travelled to this delightful town in SW Ireland. It is a fishing port and the smaller trawlers mostly fish locally while the large ones fish further out in the Atlantic - brave men indeed. "White Heather Farmhouse is a few minutes drive from Kenmare - in the country but convenient to everything. There is farmland all around, so it’s peaceful and quiet - we had a heifer outside our window! The hostess, Sheila, was so knowledgeable about the area - she had lots of great recommendations of where to visit. And the breakfast was great as well - the perfect way to start the day! Highly recommended!"
