Spacious & Bright in Lucca Country Villa
Magical setting in the hills, 12 km from Lucca. Spacious & bright 3 BR apartment features 173 mq. on second floor with many windows and a bird's-eye view in each direction. The rural landscape is characterized by winding roads, mountain streams, and lush greenery. Ideal location for day trips within Tuscany and to experience life in a quaint, village setting.
Entire second floor of an 18th-century country villa, set in a small residential enclave with park-like setting. Private entrance on the ground floor leads to an interior stairwell. The apartment features 3 Bedrooms, large Living Room, separate Dining room, fully-equipped Kitchen, west-facing Balcony, and 2 full baths, one is ensuite. 173 mq. (1850 sq.ft). Windows on all sides provide wonderful light throughout the day as well as a view of the pine trees, olive groves, and surrounding hamlet. At least one window screen per room. It is furnished simply and renovated with modern baths and new utilities, while also maintaining the classic Tuscan style of cotto tile flooring, chestnut-beam ceilings, and stone stairwell. Note--the Stairwell is not suitable for small children.

Access to the property is from a gated, stone bridge shared with the west neighbor (cover photo). A tree-lined drive leads up to the villa where there is parking for two vehicles, private outdoor seating, and foyer entrance. An interior stairwell with two flights of stairs leads up to the second-floor apartment
The villages of Pieve and Sant' Andrea di Compito are nestled in the hills of the Lucca countryside; immersed in the greenery of pine and olive trees, cypress, bay rosemary, oleander and hydrangea. The air is perfumed with jasmine in Spring, and fresh-pressed olives in Fall. The rural neighborhood consists of centuries-old stone homes, villas, barns and walkable stone-wall streets that invite an invigorating hike up the hill or a leisurely walk to the corner market. There, you'll find local residents stopping for fresh bread and necessities before the noon meal. The nearby social center is a gathering spot for an after-dinner stroll, playground and tennis court in the summer months. The area is known for is mountain water streams and several public fountains dot the landscape. It is also known for its production of olive oil and local residents can press their olives at one of two co-ops just up the street; also available for purchase. The rhythm of daily life is peaceful and follows centuries-old traditions; the setting is magical and quintessential Lucca.
*Local co-Host will provide keys and a brief introduction upon arrival.
*Access to the apartment is via a private ground -floor entrance that leads to the interior stairwell. There is no elevator.
* West neighbor property is divided by stone wall and pedestrian/car passage gate.
* Stays of 2 weeks or longer require twice-monthly Linen change and alternate week Light Housekeeping at an additional cost Euro 80 and Euro 40 per occurrence, billed through Vrbo at time of booking
* Heating, (as needed in cooler months Oct 15 - May 15) is not included and billed at a rate of Euro 15 per night, payable at time of booking.
* Baby crib can be requested, Euro 25 per stay, payable at booking.
*There is a public pool within short drive of the villa.
*A car is required and a GPS is also recommended. Within walking distance of the villa you will find a Restaurant w/Bar and a small market for fresh bread and staples. Other restaurants are within short drive of the villa and offer excellent local specialties
