The Danywenallt Hostel is in a lovely position. The route to the hostel is well signed making it easy to locate but the access road may cause some cars to "bottom out." The staff were friendly and very helpful.

Disliked: Staff & service
Location excellent - staff rude.
Location excellent. Staff seemed rather rude. Facilities good.
Unfortunately, no normal breakfast available currently and we weren't told before, so didn't bring sufficient provisions with us.
Where the YHA is is stunning. Right by the reservoir. A converted old barn. Views all around.
I also loved the 2 people from reception. Both originally from South Africa ! Couldn't do enough for yea.
Finally I would also recommend the YHA for Bird Watching. Some of the views from the dining room window were well worth seeing 😉👍
Lovely situation by the Talybont reservoir. Fully equipped rural YHA with extensive breakfast offerings and communal area and surrounded by a number of longer hiking routes.
Great place to stay, beautiful surroundings, quiet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean tidy and bed was comfortable. Kitchen aren clean, plenty of room and dining areas inside and out were great! Will be back!
The staff is very pleasant and helpful, the hostel is nice and clean, quite hard to find though as there was no signs on the way so we got lost then got help from some local people.
The only downside for me was the breakfast as it was quite basic and there wasn't a lot of choice. Also if you are arriving in the evening, you have to make sure you eat on the way or bring some food with you as they stop serving quite early and there is nowhere you could get dinner from 9.30pm
The area is amazing and I would definitely recommend it.
Really friendly staff, the hostel was hard to find but well worth finding, lovely remote area is great distance from Brecon Beacons and some amazing sightseeing opportunities. Only drawbacks include small beds and no wifi. But would definitely recommend.
So quiat and beutiful. Nice staff! Clean roms and good good!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
clean, cozy, friendly and surrounded by beauty
It's everything you would expect from a youth hostel and more. The rooms are basic but clean; the food is cheap and delicious; the staff extremely friendly. But best of all is the scenery - nestled in the valley at the end of the Talybont resevoir it's simply idylic - hills stretching in every direction - and so dark at night! As a city dweller it was a shock to experience such a pitch black sky bursting full of stars. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone hiking in the Brecons.
