Melville Castle

"The entire family absolutely loved staying in the castle! If you're going to Edinburgh, stay here. Leave your car here and get a cab in. (no Uber in the area but just call a black cab). The staff was extremely kind & helpful. Our room was a dream, with a huge staircase up to the master bed loft. Very comfortable and clean with great amenities and there's nothing like waking up in a castle and looking out the huge windows to horses in the pasture beyond. Food in the bar was great. I hope I get to return here someday!"
Carberry Tower Mansion House and Estate

"Really good country house experience, without too many modern 'interior design' fashion impositions that mar many others. Restaurant good, afternoon tea good. Garden could do with a better maintenance/planting regime, window repainting, but i have to rein in here as i'm a conservation architect and thus Mr. Fussy. Overall a very delightful re-couperative stay and would go again and happily recommend."

"This property and its garden is wonderful. So peaceful with deer and pheasant in the yard. The castle, grounds and church are all beautiful. Harriet is a great host with clear comms and very welcoming. We loved our time here and wished we’d booked longer. Highly recommend this house for a break just a short drive or train trip from Edinburgh."
A beautiful Dower House

"There are not enough stars to rate this amazing home and the fabulous and friendly hosts. Harriet and Michael were fantastic, answering questions and providing guidance weeks before we even got there. The house was so incredibly special. Magical hidden rooms, a stunning dinning room, and a breath taking yard. We saw sheep, deer and beautiful butterflies and birds while sipping tea in the lovely sitting room. It was easy to get to Edinburgh, where we went several days to the Fringe Festival. (The hosts even supported our kids' musical by attending and bringing others).Any question we had, was answered immediately and the hosts made sure everything was perfect for us. We hope to make our lovely Scotland visit an annual event. We highly recommend and will definitely stay again."

"The rooms was spotless, its a very old building but modern and decorated beautifully, the bathroom was so clean and the shower was nice and powerful. The man was really friendly and the building its self is just amazing, all 5 of us (3 kids ) were impressed. The beds are the comfiest weve ever slept on. 100% would recommend this place . The view is beautiful, the atmosphere is friendly theres fields with cows surrounding it and friendly chickens running around. Nice stay if u love the peace, the shop is walking distance too."

"Very clean and convenient. A little strange that I had to give my license plate number as they have a private park ing ticketing company given parking tickets out. I guess it's a way to make money off guest if they forget to punch in. Stayed in Hotels all over the world, but never seen this tourist trap before."

"Nice appartement with a large living-kitchen. Ideally located for a trip to Edinburgh; a 45 minutes ride with the bus that stops nearly in front of the appartement. Two supermarkets nearby (one 500m walk, the other 5 minutes drive). Parking on private ground in front of the appartement. And a very large and nice garden at the back op the house.Roselyn Chapel, worth a visit, is closeby with car. And a 45 minutes ride away is Jupiter Artland. A sculpture garden on a estate. We spent a whole day wandering around and had a delightful lunch. A day tour to the coast (North Berwick, St. Abbs) is also worth the effort."
