This property was sold after I made the reservation. I was assured nothing would change, but was told I had to cancel and rebook—at a significantly higher rate. After back-and-forth, the new owner agreed to refund the difference. We chose this property for the unobstructed lake view, and both listings showed a clear, usable dock. However, upon arrival, a large boat trailer, pontoon, and jet ski blocked most of the view. The home was also not cleaned: the upstairs bed had dirty linens and hair, trash was left, and the bathroom hadn’t been touched. The owner apologized but questioned if we “even needed the upstairs” since we were just a party of two—an odd assumption, and not an excuse to skip cleaning. I ended up washing linens and cleaning myself. We had to leave immediately after check-in to buy toilet paper, paper towels, and laundry supplies. Only 4 washcloths were provided, so we did laundry daily. There were no instructions for how to use anything in the home. Landscaping was unkempt, and the yard had dog feces. The fire pit was unusable due to a motion light that constantly triggered.I contacted the owner immediately. She admitted the photos were outdated and offered an extra night, which we couldn’t use. I requested a refund for one night instead, but she declined.
