"This property was amazing. A beautifully renovated cottage at the rear of a large house, with everything required for a wonderful stay. Very private and away from road and neighbours. Did I mention location? Literally on the edge of Dartmoor - start of park is at the end of the road."

"I loved my stay here. My host and landlord, Gary, was very friendly and accommodating. The room was very comfortable with a fantastic power shower and comfy bed for the night. The dining was wonderful and of an extremely high standard both with the quality of the food and the speed of service which was fantastically prompt. The ambience created within the village pub meant you felt relaxed both with the locals and other guests staying there to the extent that I stayed on after my meal to participate in the quiz they hosted and took a very creditable third despite it being just myself taking part. I would very much be looking out to stay here again when I am next in the area."

"The property was gorgeous! The room was large and the bathroom updated. Staff were really helpful and the food was very good. It IS very remote so if you are going as a destination to really use the amenities-golf course, pool, spa, etc., it was great. We had hoped to use it as a base to travel out from but the roads were so narrow and rather treacherous getting in, we didn’t feel like driving back and forth to other locations in Devon and Cornwall, which was too bad. "

"Delicious food "

"Booked The Cromwell Arms for a 3 night stay with my husband. I came down to Devon to visit my Dad who lives quite near so this place was ideal for us. On arrival this is a very quaint looking establishment and quite a few places at the rear for Free parking too. We booked in and shown to our room. We were both pleasantly surprised. The double room was really beautiful, with en suite, shower and plenty of towels and complimentary s/poo, s/gel soap and body cream which i thought was so nice. We had a good size tv on the wall and plenty of choice of channels plus (Netflix, prime ect). We had a wardrobe in the room, a dressing table and chair plus a comfy big chair too. Tea, coffee making facilities and a super comfy clean bed to which we both slept very well. In the morning you are provided with a choice of cooked breakfast to which i must say was excellent produce and home cooked. We also had a few meals here too and have to say the Sunday Lunch was delicious and both of us had Roast Beef with all the trimmings, we even managed a pudding each. Melt in the middle Chocolate cake with ice cream, Barry had Mixed Fruit Crumble with Custard. Must say after drinks and coffee we were totally full. I have to mention the owners Tom and Debbie as they made us feel very welcome. It was like staying with family, staff are so polite and welcoming too. The Cromwell Arms has 14 rooms. "We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It’s spacious, comfortable and was very warm and cosy even in cold winter weather. The location is peaceful - no disturbance from the farm - and the owners Carol and Russell are helpful and friendly. It’s a brilliant base for exploring this part of Devon, right on the edge of Dartmoor and also not far from the coast. We did some great (hilly) bike rides and enjoyed walking along the lanes to the Carpenters Arms in Ilsington (great food and beer). Hope to be back next year!"
