"Check in could be improved. Arrived to a busy pub with customers waiting for service at the bar and no designated check in desk. Several staff just walked past us with our bags and no one acknowledged we were trying to check in for several minutes. The room was okay but not as shown on our booking confirmation - it was an attic room with very steep stairs and a not very safe landing area outside the door. "Most of the beer in the bar was off. We asked for an extra fan for the room, it didn't turn up. My wife is a vegan, we asked for oatmilk in the room. That didn't arrive either. To cap it all when we left we were told that we had to pay an extra £55.00 as the price we were quoted was less than what it should have been. Won't be stopping here again."

"A lovely quirky & very old hotel. We had a great stay & will come back again. Not really any negatives above what you would expect from an old historic building. Attention to detail could be improved in a few area's, but these are minor, picky things. Positives far outweigh the negatives. Great building,l & great location to town. "The reception team is very helpful. The rooms are well appointed but note no charging points at bedside. My main point of feedback is less about the hotel and more about Expedia. We chose The Arden due to its very close proximity to the theatres and the fact that it is one of the more luxurious - and you pay for that - in the town and we wanted to try it because of its reputation and having stayed elsewhere before. "Spacious rooms, helpful staff, great location, and excellent value. There's a good pub (the Bear) and French Bistro (Bistro Pierre) downstairs. They were in the middle of some renovations while we were there, which is understandable, but the disruption was minimal."
