"We had an amazing time at the Mortimer Arms and cannot recommend highly enough. It is ideally situated to explore both the New Forest and Portsmouth area and not only comfortable but also great value for money. The property is being updated by its new owner Michael and judging by what has been done so far we've no doubt all will be very impressive once completed. Whilst improvements are ongoing we were totally unaware of anything being done during our stay. The decor in the restaurant was very tastefully done and our room was stunning (they have a great eye for detail) and immaculately clean. The food was varied and to a high standard. We stayed 4 nights and had all our meals there and enjoyed every dish. The restaurant can get busy, particulary when the nearby Paultons Park closes and this understandably can impact a little on service time but did not have a huge impact on us and the restaurant was considerably quieter after 7pm. Michael and all his staff are wonderful, very attentive, helpful and friendly and we can't thank them enough.We would however like to give a special mention to Adam who couldn't do enough for us and to Megan for her attention on the Monday evening. A huge 'Thank you' to Michael who really did go above and beyond to ensure that we were happy with everything and was great at giving help and guidance on the area. We will definately be back to explore this beautiful area later in the year and this will be our choice of stay. "

"A lovely friendly traditional hotel. A lovely historic coaching inn on what was once the highway through Amesbury. A short drive to Stonehenge and walks close by along the very beautiful River Avon. The room was spacious and the shower good. Very quiet. Good value. "

"We had a lovely stay at Bartley lodge. Beautiful manor house on lovely grounds. Good value and good size family rooms. We loved that the pool had long opening hours. We had dinner onsite one night which was delicious and kids menu too. "

"We stayed in the Apartment. It slept 6, but there were 3 of us, so plenty of space. 2 bathrooms . No elevator , but only a couple of flights . No breakfast, but we ate breakfast at the Garden Center , 5 minutes drive away. Great place !Lodge location was ok. Obviously one would be driving to the Lodge . But an easy place to fine and easy access into Salisbury. Next door to the New Forest Lodge was an Indian Restaurant. We didn’t try it as we had eaten at a super restaurant in Salisbury. But the Indian restaurant was very busy ; lots of cars parked outside! Parking was easy and free at the New Forest Lodge . Big plus they allow dogs ! 10 pounds per night. Overall a good break and close to Stonehenge and the wonderful Salisbury Cathedral, which is well worth visiting and touring inside. Salisbury is well worth a visit !"
