"Hotel l'Univers is a fine old grand hotel. Our room was satisfactory, good beds and bedding, fine bathroom/shower room. Great buffet breakfast. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Very well located in central area, close to darn near everything. I would stay there again."

"It was further away from the centre than we thought, our mistake. Imagine a rather rundown motel room desperately in need of an upgrade! It was very bijou but had everything we needed for a short stay: comfortable bed, a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee, a clean bathroom. We were only staying to do a quick sightseeing of the area before moving on, so we didn't need much!"

"Loved this place and would stay again without hesitation. Quiet location (on a light industrial estate to almost zero overnight traffic) and close to A26. Staff were super helpful and it has a small modern restaurant area offering a limited evening meal menu. Portions were generous and it was excellent value. The buffet breakfast choice was huge and all of it good quality - including a few things normally associated with 'full english' in recognition that it's just 60 miles from Calais and a lot of Brits pass through. Rooms could do with a freshen up but everything was generally clean and worked well, apart from the bedsheets that seemed to not quite be big enough (maybe originally intended for a thinner matterss? The thick mattress was comfy though) "
