Pros: Location was awesome in the center of everything. Free parking saves you $60/day downtown Banff. Cons: Room was very hot but they insisted the heat was not on, one window could not open properly. Shampoo dispenser broken. Lots of noise from hallways and you can hear next door alarm go off early in the morning.

Great location. The 4:00 check in, and not a moment sooner, rule is not how the majority of hotels work but the King Eddy does. The “lobby” is locked up tight with only a small bench to sit on while waiting for someone to show up. Staff should instruct patrons about how parking works and that access to the parkade is only by way of the key fob they hand you. My husband left ours in the car then we couldn’t get back into the parkade not realizing we needed the key fob for access. Hotel is very old and tired but it works. Internet runs at turtle speed. Mattress on the double size bed, not queen, is not the greatest. Linens were very lovely tho…ours were brand new. Fridge was all frosty as it had been left open and there was someone’s food in it..eeow! No conditioner in the shower, only shampoo. Probably wouldn’t book again, although for location, the price is good.

This hotel was a mixed bag. On the plus side, it’s incredibly well located with loads of restaurants, shops, pubs, and grocery stores all within a few minutes’ walk; it was also pretty quiet and had a fridge in good working order. However, the front desk was unstaffed when I arrived and the posted phone number to call didn’t work. Most of the lights in the room didn’t work, the smoke detector was removed with wires dangling. There was one shared kettle on the second floor lobby, which I could never seem to get a turn with. The reception staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful, seeming more concerned with their speakerphone conversations with family than with customer service. The mattress was tilted such that your feet were elevated (which, to be fair, might be appealing to some after long hikes). Parking was off-site which was fine - it’s close by and secure. Instructions for where to park while checking in were confusing. For the price, I can’t record this hotel.

Room was basic and clean but dated. Terrific to be central but found it noisy from rowdy crowds outside. Staff were responsive to requests for towels but rooms not routinely cleaned each day. Free parking a perk!

Stay here only if all other hotels are booked. Rooms terribly small, very hot with no air conditioning and staff hit and miss at the counter. Waited for 20 minutes to check in because no one was at counter. It appeared they only had one person to check people in and clean the rooms??? Only plus, good location downtown. Way too much money for the place.

I chose this hotel mainly because of its central location, which was the most important thing for me. Since I spent most of my day outside and only came back to the hotel to sleep, I wasn’t expecting anything luxurious and didn’t pay too much attention to the negative reviews beforehand. However, I was still surprised by how poorly maintained the room felt, especially considering I was paying around $600 per night. Even something as basic as having a decent kettle would have made a difference. The window screen was broken, the window itself didn’t open and close properly, and there is no air conditioning, although I was aware of that before booking. Overall, the location is excellent, but the rooms could definitely use more care, maintenance, and better basic amenities. For the price they charge, I think the overall quality of the room should be much better.

Positives- helpful and kind staff. They got us a cot and explained the confusing parking directions. Clean room (though carpets worn). Location is great- right in the town. Free parking. Negatives- parking directions are confusing and weren’t given ahead. So we had to move the car, which isn’t easy at 6pm. Biggest complaint is that there was no AC and the room was exceptionally hot when we entered. Probably high 80s or 90. When we entered, the drapes were open and the sun was beating in. Recommend keeping them closed. There are no screens , so we left the windows open and risked bugs.
