The hotel is right in the centre of Banff and everything you need is an easy walk. It's a really interesting building with log-style furnishings and decorations. Owned by the family who built it - early an influential settlers in Banff. Our room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The complimentary breakfast buffet was simple but had everything we wanted. We would look forward to staying there again.

Great location. Really liked the balcony overlooking Bear Street with decent mountain rooms. Room was pretty good with nice western decor. Loft was hot and stuffy even on a cool day; can’t imagine what it’s like when the weather is warmer. Breakfast nook was cramped with ok food but they did run out of some key items by 9:15. Parkade is very tight even with a midsized vehicle. Would be near impossible to get a full sized pickup in there.

This is a charming hotel and it is located in downtown Van right on the strip near everything you want very close to all the restaurants and shops and the downtown visitor center and parks The room that we had was on the second floor overlooking one of the side streets before one they do not have air conditioning only heat and if you have to open your windows to cool the room down, you have to endure some of the street noise, although they do give you earplugs Room the only thing I wasn't prepared for was the cost of parking at the hotel it's around $18 USD per day, which is cheaper parking on the street. They do have a covered parking garage also forewarn that the main streets are closed off to get there as they open it up for pedestrian walking so you have to turn down a side street in front of the hotel and turn around to check in and then they will give you a key fob to get into your room and also to activate the garage door to go underneath, the hotel

Our stay here was absolutely excellent from the moment we walked in which was extremely early morning (2 am) till the time we checked out. After dealing with cancelled flights and rental car mishaps it felt like the universe didn't want us to make it to Banff. However, when we walked in and Rory greeted us with his jovial personality the stress seemed to have been whisked away. The staff was very helpful and gave several recommendations on things to do and see and things to probably avoid. It is a fantastic location and our room was excellent. Though some parts of the hotel may be a little bit dated, I believe it adds to the character of this charming place and makes it different than just another hotel. We would definitley stay here again!

Very nice hotel located right downtown, The front desk staff were very helpful and I got an upgrade to a nicer room. There is definitely attention to detail at this hotel. My room was immaculate and very clean. Be prepared for a little traffic noise if you get a room that faces the street, but that is what I bring a noise machine for. The area around the hotel is very walkable with many dining and shopping options. I would definitely stay here again.

I was really looking forward to our stay at this hotel to celebrate my husband's birthday. I had read most of the reviews. Unfortunately, I was completely let down. The hotel is extremely old and outdated. Our room was a let down. Very old/cheap feel. The bathroom gave hospital vibes. Very bleak. I appreciated that they gave us some bear chocolates and a card but, unfortunately that did not make up for everything else. I chose this hotel because it was centrally located, appeared to have a nice interior (From the photos at least) and included breakfast. Unfortunately, the second we walked into the basement aka "breakfast nook" , we were in shock. The breakfast was very minimal/basic/unappetizing and in a tiny room located in the basement. It was unappealing. We ended up paying for breakfast at a nearby cafe called Wild Flour (which was excellent!). Also, the parking was $18 a day. This was not listed on the website. The Parking lot is horrible to maneuver through. If you have anything bigger than a Sedan (WARNING), it will be awful to get in and out. The front desk staff wasn't helpful either when I asked for local directions. On a positive note, the location cannot be beat. You are in the center of Banff which we appreciated. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel. There are so many other options at a similar price point in the same central location. I feel like we didn't get the value for the price.
