If this was my local pub, I’d be happy - lovely staff, friendly clientele, a fine dog and the food is acceptable ‘pub grub’ however.... the stay in ‘family room’ was not good. The room was upstairs in the pub and initially no key supplied as ‘nobody goes up here’. The room was akin to a store room with a couple of beds chucked in. There was an oversized old armchair blocking a chunk of room and a huge wardrobe which you couldn’t use as it was stuffed with Christmas decorations and a skeleton ..... the large double sleigh bed had hardboard nailed on a frame instead of slats or springs and an old mattress 6” narrower than the bed. The single was lumpy. All bedding smelt stale and in need of a good wash and air and was decidedly from a different era. The separate bathroom turned out to be shared with unknown other people - which was a nightmare as there was no working lock.
I don’t really think this pub should be offering accommodation until they’ve modernised, decluttered and cleaned the accommodation. And added another bathroom/fixed the lock!
